i love guinea pigs..used to breed them then after that i always kept one ithe house..

but now i love the little russian hamsters if i tap the cage then they come out to see me.. see if have anything for them. let me tickle their tummys while they cling to the bars.

you can leave them together when they have babies the male helps to look after them..its so sweet..

They sound sweet Stella ... do you see much of them during the day?

We had guinea pigs when I was a child - they were sweet. We had the ones with the curly bits in their fur - not over-hairy but little twirls. I cannot remember what "breed" they were but someone might know what I'm talking about!

grilled or roast maybe ...

LOL

No, seriously.

We have a pooch - who is lovely and I wouldn't want to be without him but he thinks he's a lapdog and he's not - and he's heavy ...

We sort of have a cat - abandoned by the lovely people next door but one when they finally went 2/3 years ago. She lives in the garden - has a shelter, a bed, two meals a day and demands my lap and a cuddle whenever I pop outside. (She was not feral when she adopted us but she was a very moody creature - she has calmed down a lot since and even purrs occasionally.)

But a hamster. Oh bliss. No need to entertain it - especially during the day. When it's charging around on its exercise wheel at night it can be several rooms away so I won't hear it. Won't eat much. Won't get jealous if I dare to give attention to another animal. Won't need dragging round the block in the rain.

And - it won't sit on my lap - and if it did I wouldn't notice!

Think I might trade my two resident pets in for a dear little hammie!
