Mine was 11/6 ahead........in a posh hotel. 40 guests

No disco , never had them then. 1966.......just sat around and talked maybe a drink of babycham or two LOL

Then off for 2 days honeymoon ....Wow, we only had £5 left in our possession

Was that expensive in comparrison to wages etc at the time?

I married in 1990 and we paid ourselves My dress was £100 and ma-in-law made the bridesmaid dresses.
We had the reception in the local village hall with a disco after.I think aprox 80 relatives etc in the day and 50 more in evening

Cant remember the exact price apox £2000 with honeymoon in cornwall
Just after that I think weddings started to get very expensive. My friend had a "posh" do and it cost an arm and a leg with only 50 guests and no disco after.

Ours cost fifty pounds, reception at home, 20 guests in 1955. I made my own wedding dress and OH had the first new suit he had ever had. Come to that, he has only ever had one more! The tea and sugar were courtesy of the cookhouse boys where I was stationed at the hospital.
