I want to rule this person out of my search for great granny, but in the 1871 census this Hannah is the very first person on the page and is listed as neice, Any idea how I can find the previous page (29)
James Hannah, born 1859, Staffordshire,
census place Newcastle Under Lyme, Newcastle Under Lyme

Hiya Jeanette... on Ancestry I just scroll back one page.... it gives you the option to do that.

Good luck!

If only you could do that with GR.

Or alternatively Jeanette, if there is a page clitch, you can type the page number in and press go (or whatever it says)

I think I must be a bit thick today, can I do this on Genes Reunited? I thought I could only search by name.

Bother, I have already paid my gold membership for 6 months. Will look at another site when that expires.
Now that I am finally here in the UK can I actually do the census search in person somewhere.

I looked for Hannah James, birth 1860, Staffordshire. As I said I don't think this is my Hannah and I'd like to rule her out.

Thank you so much for looking that up. It is just as I thought, and rules her out. Her mother's name was Emma and they were both born in Burslem, Stafforshire.
Oh well, back to the search. :)
