The easy way is to use one of the other portals.

Instead of genesreunited.co.uk

use

.co.nz
.com.au
.co.za

- you can click on one of the flags down at the bottom of this page, and you'll have to sign in again.

The best way, and one that will save you the same grief everywhere you (e.g. at Ancestry) is:

Install AdBlock


I can't believe that after all the recurring discussions of this here, anybody is still putting up with those ads!!!

I'd have demanded my money back and left immediately a couple of years ago, if I had had to. Things like you describe are indeed beyond annoying to the point of distressing. And I haven't seen a single one, anywhere, for years now, with AdBlock.

(If I do hit one that AdBlock hasn't automatically blocked, I just right-click and block it, and it's gone. That never happens at this site, because the ads all come from the same standard feeds, and AdBlock kills them automatically.)

I am using the .za site and all I have is the friends reunited ad which is bearable!

The .com.au site is equally as bad as the .co.uk site.

Currently the heart foundation wish me to join a walking group, I will give the thought due consideration as soon as I get over the hour of fitness I have done today.

The Do Not Call Register people are annoying me with their register to keep unwanted phone calls away. Wonder if we could start a Do Not Flash At Me register.

Hmm I wonder where the other ads went. I was surrounded by them last night. Oh dear now I'm in the jumpy screen zone. OK that's it. Control Panel/Display/change settings here I come!!
