The wash basket fills up about twice a week, and is emptied on some occasions by labrador dog. This is our punishment for ignoring his demands. Removed dirty laundry stuffed in dog's mouth is paraded in view then deposited under the dining room table.

OH operates the washing machine, hangs items on line, takes off line and chucks onto couch in spare room. Unless of course he decides it is time I had a turn at domestic chores, then I get to play with the machine. I fold up most items and place ironing in basket which goes to the ironing lady each week.

I stopped ironing fifteen years ago.

The only time I ever iron is if there is an item OH desperately needs. That has happened half a dozen times in the last fifteen years. I too have an antique ironing board and an iron to match.

The dog always knows the location of the missing socks. Actually he has a few pairs of old ones in his toy box. They have squeaky toys tied up inside them and are useful for chewing and squeaking when his humans are trying to watch TV or read quietly.

I tell you Theresa that bugger hangs out world wide.
with a family of 7 dont need a laundry basket either, the clothes fill the laundry from floor to ceiling, then they come in and take over 1 whole couch until claimed by their owners which has to be a daily event or that goes to the ceiling as well.

No no, it's a gen-you-ine ironing board, 1950s vintage. It hasn't broken yet, although it also hasn't been used in 8 years or so, and only sparingly for a fair bit before that. I wouldn't want to wear it out!

I did use it a lot in my youth. One of my not too onerous household chores was ironing my dad's week's worth of white shirts. I got to do it in the basement rec room, cool as cool in the summer, while watching every old black and white movie ever made. A well spent youth. ;)

I have an excellent system, myself, that seems to work opposite to all yours. ;)

I leave the dirty things in a dedicated heap in the downstairs bathroom. Some time within a week or so, they appear in my closet and drawers, neatly hung and folded. (What is this "ironing" I hear of? I think I do own a couple of those shiny electric jobbies, and a charming antique padded wooden folding object of my mum's that I think is somewhere at the back of a closet ... I dunno, you wash it, you hang it on hangers to dry, voilĂ , neat clean clothes, no nonrenewable resources doing what the air does.) Oh, I do have about 30 pairs of undies, for backup.

I work and cook, he cleans and launders and gardens and shovels snow. Kind of. I'm better at my jobs then he is at his, but then the wages are low. He also loses my clothing regularly. But hey, I was always pretty good at doing that for myself. So ... it all comes out in the wash!

OH is always asking"Where are all my pants".He has a load in the drawer ,but he likes his favourites.I say" have you thought of looking in the airing cupboard ??".No of course he hadn't thought to look there. They should just be in the drawer.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.The pants and socks fairy will have sorted lol

Nooo Dianne...
If it's not in the bin, don't wash it.
They won't like it, but they'll learn !

Only 3 of us at home now, but I often add grandson's school shirts at a weekend, if I'm doing a white load.

I like to wash bold colours separately.. Why do mine discover the bright red top, AFTER I've just washed a load of similar colours.?

Oh for a linen basket filler in our house. T'would be wonderful.

My lot just decorate the bedroom floors with their dirties and expect me to pick it all up after them, no matter how much I protest - and that includes hubby.

To get round to my side of the bed I have to climb uphill and downdale at times.

Your phantom linen basket filler visits my house too.I have at least one load a day,and there are only two of us,oh,and four cats.

I also have a phantom kitchen sink filler, everytime I go in the kitchen there is another bowl full of mucky pots.

Before I go to bed,I wash all the pots in sight, and tidy round. Yet when I come down in the morning there are more pots to wash.

Perhaps the cats party all night.

UzziAndHerDogs Report 10 May 2010 19:18

There are only 2 of us if his washing ain't in the wash bin it don't get done, if my ironing isn't on the ironing pile he won't do it. Odd socks he has all black the same style, I have a few different in the winter it is down to me to keep them paired.
Simple really (for us)

Damn must put my shorts with his shirts to be ironed. !!

ha at last im not alone! on saturday i emptied bathroom linen basket, which was full up, emptied daughters basket from her bathroom and lifted clothes from sons bedroom. did 5 loads, hung it out, dried and ironed and put away all by eve.it was a good sunny day with a breeze perfect for laundry.
so how is it when i go to bed on sat night my basket is also full back up.

my two are 13 and 15. they are at school and when then come home change completely. if they have a bath before bed, more clean underwear and pjs. it never ends.
at least when they leave school, i will be minus 10 polo shirts, 6 sweatshirts, 4 pairs trousers and 10 pairs socks!!!!

Jane

Jane Report 10 May 2010 19:07
