My son uses Vision Express. He gets a 'repeat prescription' every month but has to go for a checkup / assessment every so often. However the general opticians employed by the likes of Vision, Boots and SpecS, whilst obviously fully qualified, don't always have the specialist experience to deal with anything other than routine cases.

My wife and I now use an independent optician in our town who is former eye surgeon, as she is type 2 diabetic and I have mild glaucoma and we have to have special tests every so often.

I get my contact lenses from Specsavers. You can sign up for different sorts of packages depending on what type of lens (daily disposable, etc) and how often you want to wear them. You get an annual lens check up and you can pay by direct debit and they are sent through the post.
No problems so far and pleased with the quality of service.

I thnk Specsavers is the cheapest.
Mind you it also depends on whether or not 'special' lenses are needed. My daughter has to have extra large lenses as her eyes are so big!!!
Go and ask Boots & Specsavers their prices - you've got nothng to lose!!!

I use Boots Opticians for my eyecare, and have always been happy with the service and the quality of the products.
All I would say is, buying lenses over the internet is cheaper, but you should still have regular check ups at the opticians, and this will cost.

Although i do not use contact lenses, i have used "Specsavers" for the past 10 years for my prescription glasses, i have always found them to be very proffesional and obliging.
A couple of years ago i decided to have those transition lenses, after a few days i could not get on with them, went back to the store, no problem no hassle, they replaced the lenses back to the normal type free of charge.

Cant get better than that.
