Hi, could someone please advise me where to start searching for any court records or old newspaper articles from about 1930 to 1935 in the UK. I have just been advised that an Uncle of mine was sent to prison for a short amount of time in the UK for carnal knowledge and there was an article published about it in the paper. I dont know what year this was or where exactly in London it was (Am assuming it was around the Greenford area as thats where he lived) but do know that he married in 1935 and it was a couple of yrs before this marriage this event happened. I know its not alot of information that I have but am willing to search thru the yrs if i can be pointed in the right areas of where to look and if any police records or court appearances are available online.
Thanks

You might be able to access the TimesOnline through your local library. I can access it using my library card number.

I found a report in there of an ancestor's court case re an alleged bigamy, but that was back in 1869. It's possible that by the 1930s The Times had stopped publishing the "scandalous" reports and limited themselves to more serious topics ... but nonetheless it would be worth a try.

Hi, thanks for your reply Mrs Grumpy. Sorry I haven't thanked you earlier but for some reason Genes hadn't notified me via email that I had a reply to this question and it was just an off chance that I thought I should just look to see if anyone had replied to it today. (thought u get notified if a reply to your post comes thru?)
Will have a look and see if I can access Times Online.
Thanks again for your time
