My daughter had visit with midwife yesterday. Had bloods taken, and was told that she is lacking(?) in iron.

Seemingly midwife who did last bloods, should have noticed a dip in iron levels!

Gemma is booked in for more bloods in 2 weeks, and "a baby size scan". I'm sure that's the wrong name, but they think Gem's baby is on the small size.

Baby Ethan due in 5 weeks.

Keep you posted.

The scans are so inaccurate usually, and just make mum worry more! A lot of expectant ladies are anaemic so try not to worry, although I know it must be hard. As long as her diet is reasonably healthy she will be ok. With each of my three pregnancies I was told baby was small, but I think its because I was small and skinny at the time. My middle child was over 8lbs, yet the day before she was born they'd said they were concerned that I only looked 5 months pregnant! All the best to you all , its lovely that your daughter has such a caring mother x

My word that has come around quickly!!

I am sure that there is nothing hugely to worry about.... if they were concerned about iron levels, they would have given her iron in one form or another... maybe if she can add a bit extra to her diet in the meantime, that will help.

Plus, if they were concerned that her baby was too too small, then they'd have had her in for more investigations.

It is natural to worry though... a similar thing happened with my DiL when she was expecting my older granddaughter, 5 years ago.... DiL was in a grand old Tiz Waz... and she was a midwife in the hospital the scans were done, lol.... so it is perfectly natural to worry, but almost certainly going to be fine... my granddaughter arrived weight just under 9lb, on the day she was due, by the way, so much for being small!

So (((((hugs))))) for you while you wait.

Love

Smallish ! baby weighs 6lb 9oz, with 4 weeks to go!

So we have been worried for nothing! Didn't help Gemma any though, as she is 8 months pregnant!

Ha, do the scans really tend to underestimate that consistently??

That could be why my sister was given all the go-aheads for a home birth (with practising midwife) ... and then had to be rushed to hospital when it became obvious that there was a giant thing inside her that was not coming out without considerably more encouragement than the midwife could provide. The were just about to do a Caesarian (since my sister wouldn't have forceps) when the doc decided to give it one shot with the baby vacuum, and it worked. Ten pound 12 ounce kid with a head like a pumpkin. Looked like the Michelin tire man for months.

Spinach, and lots of it, for the next two weeks. Spinach salad, spinach quiche, creamed spinach. Just fill the freezer with the frozen stuff, and chow down!
