Agree with Whirley in this case. If she was housekeeper at Walmer Castle she wouldn't be making the gravy, she'd be checking that the Castle was running smoothly. |

Family story is that she was the cook at Walmer Castle . I've found Walmer castle on the 1841 census and the housekeeper was a Mary ( her Christian name ).......so maybe I have found her ? |

I've got a photo of the one I'm looking for ( my G.G.Grand mother ) judging by the looks of her I'm not at all surprised she only had one child , I can't imagine she would have been up for much " hows your father "......lol |

If a woman was listed as " housekeeper" in 1841 do you think it's quite likely that she might have been the cook as well ? |
