Went to the hospital diabetic specialist clinic today and was told that he is so pleased with the way I am controlling my diabetes that he doesnt want to see me again unless my GP sends me because something he cant deal with.
Walked out of there to bump into the surgeon who did my Mastectomy 8 1/2 yrs ago, who gave me a lovely smile and said, when am I due to see you again, it seems a long time! Two of the nicest gentlemen I know and both pleased to see me!

Jean, how lovely that they treat you like a person and not just a number and great that your diabetes is so well controlled you don't have to go back.

I think my o.h. is due a check up soon, will have to remind him, he is likely to forget.

I go for my mammogram on May 29 ........ it's 15 years since I had my mastectomy done.

Good luck with the mammogram Sylvia, I had my results back the other day and all is ok. Hope you get the same results.

I had three elderly neighbours who all had mastectomies and they lived for years and years afterwards. into their eighties all of them.

Thanks for the good wishes, ladies. My Mammogram will be in June sometime, I havent received the exact date yet. Yes, it is nice to be recognised and doesnt it make other people stare when you are greeted so! My GP slipped up once when the practice nurse wanted my practice number. He said it off the top of his head, and smiled, said I remember the numbers of all my favourite patients! he means the ones who survive a lot!!
