Ok guess i must just be thick here, when searching for the name McManus surely if I type that in it should give me at least some variations close to that name shouldn't it? so why am I getting Ma-Mez names:(

not sure where you are searching but some indexes are like that ,they assume that some would spell the name MacManus so you get the alpha list that covers that

If you are searching on this site, you have to click onto the ma-mez,and look through each quarter for your rellies.

On Ancestry you will get all the possibles including different spellings and you choose the one you think is the most likely.

Thanks Shirley it worked I typed in MacManus and it gave me McManus as well
