When the 'youf' either side of me aren't revving their glorified lawn mowers, my small garden is nice - somewhat 'wild' - but I have hedgehogs, slow worms - and if I'm to believe what my cats bring in - mice inhabiting it!!!

Sat and watched a spider cocooning a wasp last autumn, also had two beautiful cells (look like chinese lanterns) in the shed from solitary wasps.

im lucky my living room leads on to the garden , i say im lucky as it is a HA house and they didnt really create such a luxary in many of the houses buit by local authority housing, ive got a little patio area as you step or trip out like i ususally do lol ive got pots of various plants some artificial untill the reall ones come out.

ive got 1 -2 yr old fruit trees going round the whole of the garden and conifirs im so proud of it it causes me a lot of pain but it also keeps me going specky dont know but ive got a climber in my living room the plan is to go around the top of the patio door a mad idea i know, im trying to get hold of so wisteria now for out side xx

Mine isn't a large 'plot', but by the standards of gardens on 'new builds, it is a comfortable size. I have a patio that runs all across the width of the back of the house, and goes out, some 12/14ft. I have this planted up with all sorts of large pots, a large oval patio table with four reclining chairs, and a large parasol to match. There is a water feature to one side, and we are about to install a Chiminea. I also have a rather large trough, in which I have created a rockery with the appropriate plants. On the arched trellises that separate the patio from the garden proper, I have hanging baskets, clematis, wind chimes and lanterns.
Down on side I have a 'tropical' border, and on the corresponding side have another border, planted up in a blue, yellow and white theme. I have a 'hot corner' for the reds, yelllows, oranges and terracotta plants, that I like, but have no place in my other colour scheme. Across the back of the garden, is my greenhouse and summerhouse, and all is bound from my neighbours with a 6ft high fence, which I have managed to cover with various climbers, as a disguise.
However, as I looked down the garden to the back fence, I noticed I had a bare space on it. So, I painted onto the fence, a white arched gate shape. Then I added two large black hinges, black studs, and a black lift -latch. This always makes people think it opens onto the little wood over the fence.
To say it is my little bit of heaven is an understatement. Neighbours either side do not bother with their gardens at all.
It is small by some standards, but full, and I love it, even though at times it does require abit of work. But, I am envious of Whirley and her blessed Koi's. I would love to have a fish pond, but space, and my dog, would not allow.
As it is wet here this morning, I am chomping at the bit, to get out and do more.
Have a good day everybody, and don't foget you can make your own little Heaven/haven on the smallest of patios or balcony
