Apparently BA only pay for 4 nights accommodation.......but the beach is warm!
She'll either stay with friends or max her credit card to pay for the other days, and let BA and her insurance company fight it out when she gets back.

She only had another 3 days leave left - seems she won't be able to come camping in Wiltshire now!!!

I'm sure she's bereft (not!) LOL

Fortunately she has friends over there - 5 of them went to a mutual friends wedding, so if the worst comes to the worst, they can buy a tent and camp in the garden!!

.....I feel for their boss though - that's one specialist lighting company that is 5 employees short!

Maggie - my daughter is stuck in Portugal; and it's RAINING!

Flight booked for next Thursday, fingers crossed.

They're back in the villa after a night in a hotel as the people who should be in it can't get there anyway

Hi Wildgoose, my mum lives in Portugal! When it rains - you know it!!
I do feel for your daughter - but it (the rain) shouldn't last long.

Niece was initially in Rio de Janeiro - rain, floods and landslides there! Looks like it's sunny now, and she's now on a small island.

Could be a worse place to get stuck. We're still wondering when they'll get home, though!

A Good, if not extremely wet, Morning to All.
On our local news this morning, it was reported that The Queen Elizabeth's Grammer School, in Ashbourne ,Derbyshire, has had to close today, to make alternative arrangements for it's pupils. Twenty-one of it's teachers are stranded abroad, five of them on educational trips. They have insufficient staff for the pupils, and, obviously, cannot see the end in sight soon.
Hope everyone, everywhere, gets home safe.

Good luck with BA and the insurance company. I suspect this will be classed as an act of god.

all the people who booked with a european company
will be flown back at no extra cost
but forgien companys outside the EU
have no responsibility to do anything
your on your own their folks
but some may decide to cover the cost
but have no legal responsibility to do so

two royal navy ships have left
to collect some British holiday makers from Spain

The longer it goes on the more likely we wont get away on Sunday week. frustrating thing is that we only need to get to Madrid because we can fly from there to Tenerife. That is the way we usually go anyway so are booked on it.

Not to worry, at least we would be stuck at home. Aah but if we can go and the second volcano goes up we could be stuck in Tenerife!!!!!
