Hello DIZZI
So where is "here"?

I have been watching a programme in real time on my computer and in my view Thank God the planes have been grounded...imagine the hoo=haa there would be if one crashed. Yes i realise that people will miss important events, miss loved ones, maybe not get the job they wanted etc but what else could be done,
I am glad that the benefit is already showing through as you have just said the air quality is already improving...Good for you for saying so on here

Not noticed any different here (flight path to Stansted)

However I cant see that it wil change much, not with volcano ash settling on ground level in some places.

Get rid of one....

Been lovely here in Norwich Gwen, no planes going overhead, or helicopters to the rigs, we are quite close to the airport and when the Red Arrows come here they circle over the field at the end of the garden before landing. Ours is a busy airport and there is always early morning noise especially when there is frost or snow and you can hear blowers clearing the runways. Also klm do engine testing and were planning to move nearer this way across the airport but so much outcry it's being rethought altho it may lose lots of people their jobs. I expect there will be a lot of this quiet sky time over the summer if the volcano continues to erupt, as is expected.
Rather glad we haven't booked to Corfu in June now, as I had wanted to do until o.h.'s son's wedding was planned for this August, and a prior get together arranged for June, it's within driving distance so no planes needed for that.

The cars were very dusty outside on the drive.

After a couple of days, the lovely silence is getting a bit eerie now,
cars are a bit dusty and my eyes are sore.At least no planes have fallen out of the sky and nobody harmed.

I guess there will be a price to pay when the shops start running low on imported fresh fruit and veg and prices start to soar ?

Then there will be the acid rain , i dislike drying the washing indoors, and livestock that should not eat the polluted grass.

My sister lives in Horley which is at the end of the Gatwick runway.
The planes obviously fly low and there is always a smell of aviation fuel. They are loving the peace and quiet.

Strangely enough, there have been a lot more of the smaller planes flying over our house. Not sure whether it's the nice weather that's caused it, or that people are chartering them from Shoreham airport (closeby) to get to their destinations.
