They hardly use notebooks now - theres a form or booklet for almost everything. |

If police men had voice recorders instead of notebooks, it would make it easy for a typist to do their notes and they would only have to read and sign at the end of shift. That would give them time to be more visible. And maybe if children were taught the correct way to treat other people and their possessions things would be better. |

Allow a policeman to police, to be a law enforcement officer, not spending half a shift or more typing up some crime. |

Kay, the funding to recruit more police has fallen over the years, thats why less are joining. |

Perhaps if more were to join the PF they could do supply and demand.but the numbers of those joining the force have fallen in recent years so man power has fallen. |

Agree with TW...less time behind a desk filling in forms and dealing with red tape, therefore, freeing them to get out there and police our streets like I'm sure they'd prefer to x |

More proper bobbies on the beat, and more time for them to actually police, spending less time at their desks form-filling. |

ACPO is the Association of Chief Police Officers. It has no statutory status but acts as a clearing house for national policing policies. So what we get is every chief officer being a member and implementing policies that may be pertinent only to a few forces. It does away with local accountability and local issues and encourages gimmick led policing strategies. |

i think the police have a hard time.they have to put up with so much .and when they do all the work to get a conviction ,the judge goes easy .they must get really fed up. |

It is not so much the policing, because I believe that by and large they do a good job, it is more the options for punishment and rehabilitation I would like to see altered. The sentencing is at best inconsistent and at worst wishy washy. |
