WW2 service records?

Hi,
Just had a quick look at that site and it looks as though I can apply without being next of kin. They have nearly all been deceased for 25 years and that is the cut off point for being N.o.K. Its worth a go even if I do it over time. £30 is a lot if you get nothing back!

Thanks again to you all for your help.

They would not, I would think, have the resources to check regarding kinship.

Try completing the forms and keep your fingers crossed :-)

Hi,
Many thanks to you all, I am not next of kin and as they are my mother and father-in-laws brothers and sisters and they are all deceased I think it may be very very slim that I would be able to get them. Some of them did have family and they are alive but they are not in contact with us. Is the next of kin always classed as the spouse and children or does it stretch to siblings?

The forms can be completed from here for service records for WW2 -

You will need to send a copy of the person's death certificate and proof of your identity.

I have recently received RAF service records; they took about three weeks. Also, a few years ago, I received Army records.

Try the National Archives, BUT even if you can find them, unless you can prove you are next of kin and the person is deceased, they won't release them to you

Hello everyone,
Can anyone tell me if you can search through WW2 service records? I know I can search WW1 on ancestry but it only seems to be Army and not Navy or RAF. I have several people I would like to track down records for but most are WW2 and not Army. Any advice?
