it says she is a patient not an inmate. Workhouses had their own hospitals that were open to the public who couldn't afford private doctor treatment . I would say she was in hospital |

I'm trying to find out what happened to my great grandmother. She was called Martha Annie Goddard b 1873/4 nee Smart. On the 1911 census she was listed as being in an "institution" in Blaby leicester. Anyone any idea what this institution may have been? There was a workhouse at Blaby ..... Her husband William and Son Walter Richard were living in Billesdon at that time. |
