Joan,

Sorry to hear your health is not too good at the moment, but by the sounds of it lots of lovely memories!

I do enjoy having him, he is so funny....and there is another one on the way in September......this time a girl!

Hi Shirley,

My grandson will be 2 in August, so you have to have eyes in the back of your head! I think it is more mentally tiring at the moment as you are extra vigilant when they are not your own.

He bumped his head a few weeks ago and had a right bruiser, I was nearly sick with worry waiting for the parents to come home, but they are quite laid back and were more upset that I had my knickers in a twist about the whole thing!

My daughter teaches secondary school, so at least I have the holidays!

We have our ten year old grandson here for a few days .A couple of months ago I was looking after 15month GRT granddaughter for a week at their house, the baby sitter decided at the last minute she was having a weeks holiday but grandaughter who is a senior Vet nurse couldn.t just drop hats and take time off especially as she had some minor ops booked in. She is trained and qualified to do things like speying etc.

Not a bad idea Maggie......get a job! might be easier lol
Dizi i take my hat off to you....ten years!

It did make me wonder seeing all the oldies with pushchairs etc, just how many of us have taken on the roll of caring for our grandchildren on a weekly basis.

Then that got me thinking how many of us were approached to do the same and refused for whatever reasons.

I don't, as I work full time, but before my daughter had baby No3, 4 weeks ago, their other nan looked after No2 at least once a week. (No 1 goes to school!)

I look after my grandson 2 days a week, a few days ago whilst sitting in the car at my local retail park feeding the person in question a banana, I noticed all the obvious "granparents" pushing prams etc.........there were lots!

It got me thinking just how many grandma/grandads are taking care of their grandchildren whilst their parents are at work.
