Morning Sal, Stray and Sydneybloke,

What memories you bring back for me!

Enjoyed many a Sunday driving up to Lake Macquarie, where friends had bought a piece of land - including with dear friend who died on Saturday. Pitched a tent, barbecued sausages spent the day enjoying those lovely tranquil surroundings.

Since doing my family tree found relatives at Wollombi in mid 1800's started looking around and found "The Convict Trail" web site. Do have a look at it if you don't already know it - tells you the history of the Great North Road built by the early convicts - you can find names too and places and some great pictures as well. Sal, you'll have some great rides up there! A wonderful place to explore and you do get the feel of it being very ancient.

Went through and stopped at Wollombi for a coffee( but no Dr Jurd's Jungle Juice) last in 1992 when going to see niece in Muswellbrook. Wonder what its made from?

Best wishes,
R

Reece - all of that, it was glorious! The ride up to Wollombi from Hornsby is so lovely, lots of bush and also lost of animals - alpaca, lambs, horses and bulls in water holes.

I was amazed at the beauty of the open land and how open it was....we stopped off at a couple of biker cafes which are very friendly and then arrived in Wollombi, which is a very small but very old village, looks like it was much bigger once but only a few places survive - the police station and court house and a few old houses etc.

Lovely ride though......

good morning Sal. Just about to put some washing out, pleasant day here so far although not a sunny as the past few days. Then we are off to the local garden centre for some plants. It is that time of year again here.

Sally,

Feeling very sad as message just arrived to say one of our oldest friends died yesterday in Manly. When we worked together we were always finished early and then had lots of laughs - banking in those far off days!!!

Tell us about your bike ride - where did you go? I am curious, you see. Must be getting on for 70 years since I used to ride my bike in the bush - Sunday afternoons - shade of the gum trees, kookaburras laughing, warm breezes and I still have the photos - yes all of gum trees! No spas in those days, either.

Enjoy the days and your bike rides.

What ya been up to?

Been out on the bike this morning (clinging on like holy fire) to a really old place in Australia.....was a lovely place to visit......then I clung on again back to home and rested in the spa for about 3 hours to get over it, with a bottle of wine! lol!

Dinner is now in the oven....enjoy your day whatever you are doing
