Teresa, let us know if you tried the recipe and how it tasted, please.

I know you can put dark chocolate in some savoury meals and it works well but can't remember which.

I always think it sounds funny when chefs suggest putting black pepper on strawberries, has anyone tried it? Supposed to enhance the taste but as I don't even like strong pepper taste I have never risked wasting a strawberry lol

Teresa, chilli in chocolate is supposed to be a wonderful taste so don't knock it till you've tried it, I tried some from a special production bar a while back but as I don't like hot spices, it wasn't to my taste but o.h. liked it.

Saw the strangest desert the other day which may cure some of you from the chocky cravings.

It was a chocolate pudding withb mild chilli powder added.

I dont think I will try that one!!!

I don't like chocolate much and find the idea of drinking chocolate a bit nasty but I do like the cocoa-y after-taste of really strong chocolate.

I think it is the sweety, fatty bit of milk chocolate I don't like rather than the cocoa.

There is a list of reasons why chocolate is better than sex like you can have chocolate with your mum and it is still just as good if it has gone soft.

I have sinned. In the last three days I have drunk three mugs of hot chocolate with creamy foam on top and pink and white marshmallows bobbing up and down.

Oh heavens they tasted wonderful!!

I will return to my saintly state, I will I promise. Later.

Sticky stuff remover???

All Aussies will tell you Eucalyptus Oil. Dab a bit on a tissue and rub the sticky spot gently. Voila!!

Purple, have you tried something called Sticky stuff remover? It will get the gunge of almost everything. I got it either from Lakeland or Kleeneze, not sure now.

There is a way to counter a craving for chocolate but it is not for the fainthearted.

As I said I stay off the stuff for ages. Then when I decide it's time drool, drool slobber slobber. I have chocolate.

That's it. I eat chocolate for one day. Nothing else. I have chocolate, breakfast cereal, to drink, in between meals, for lunch, cakes, pies, desserts, everything chocolate I can eat. Just for the day. By the time 4pm comes I am so high on the "secret ingredients", I'm floating near the ceiling. By the time bed time comes I am so sick of the sight of chocolate I never want to eat it again.

Oh that and the increased exercise I need to counter that one day of indulgence.

Just typing this makes me want to throw up. Think I'll stay off the stuff for a bit longer!!!

Well I have a confession to make, I am a chocoholic!

At least I was, I can restrain myself sometimes, but not when someone has piled up 4 different chocolate pressies for Easter, I thought I had explained that I really don't need that many boxes of chocs at a time!
Flowers would have been nice, just a bunch of daffs or a hyacinth in a pot, but I got a lovely heart shaped box of Thorntons chocs, same ones as Christmas - a lovely box to keep afterwards if I can get the sticky stuff off from under the Thorntons label - then one box of Thorntons Mint collection which I spotted reduced in mid March at a supermarket and suggested would be a bargain pressie for Easter, same as a box of Sainsbury Choc orange segments (should have been eaten by end March but I am not fussed, chocolate keeps for years) and then another box with 4 Lindor choc eggs in!
I will have to try and ration myself for the next few weeks, I have been trying quietly to lose a bit of my tum so I don't look like Bessie Bunter at his son's wedding in August! I am sure he just wants me to keep getting fatter so I keel over and die, then he can chuck out all my hoarded stuff and have his house back lol

Am trying a Lindor egg right now, how do you measure seratonin levels lol?

I'll buy a bar of chocolate (that's a HUGE one) because I fancy it, and it can spend months in the fridge! then. all of a sudden, I eat the chocolate and buy Yorkie bars to eat at work - then nothing for months.

BTW - I love to eat crisps after chocolate when I'm at work.

Hot chocolate drinks don't count as chocolate - you don't get the 'chocolate mouth'!!

.......which is probably why I like to eat crisps after chocolate.........

Oh yeah. Are you a chocolate eater who is still looking for the next piece after you have eaten the whole block.

Do you find you can abstain from the practice for long periods of time, but once you start you can cheerfully eat every scrap of chocolate within your reach.

I am now five months into a no chocolate phase. In that time I have had one hot chocolate drink which I accidently drank while sleepwalking one night!!!

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 5 Apr 2010 01:18

I go through phases.
Not a chocolate one at the moment :o(

Just like to say it's not 'hormonal' - been through that!!!!
More a lust thing.............

I would love to present the book "The Lady and the Chocolate" by Edward Monkton. It is a very small very short book. However, it is copyright. To post it on this thread would breach copyright regulations so you are going to have to go find a copy yourselves.

I believe I may however make use of a small portion of the text, purely for review purposes.

...the Lady is talking to the chocolate...

"No, Chocolate," said the Lady, "I do not want you for I am STRONG. I can resist my FICKLE urges and my FRIVOLOUS desires."

So what is the outcome of this strange conversation and how did it all start?!!!
