Like an idiot I let my subs lapse

Are there any offers about at the mo, funds are low & I don't particularly want to be shelling out loads of squids if I don't need to.

I don't know of any offers Claire, but if your subs haven't lapsed for too long they might be sympathetic if you ring them up :-)

Have you tried cashback sites such as quidco? Also sometimes you can get a good deal buying a previous version of ftm with 6 month subs. Saw something on tips about a month ago

Theres an offer on FTM with Tesco clubcard points. For the equivalent of £15 you get FTM 2010 and 6 months ancestry essentials.

You can get the world edition of FTM for £50 at Avanquest.co.uk , it also get you 6 months worldwide access to Ancestry, normally about £100. Useful if you need US or Canadian records. If you only require UK then Tesco's offer is best offer. I never pay ancestry subs.
