I remember our open fire when I was small. Dad was a cabinet maker and all the offcuts went on it. Each type of wood had a different smell and at Xmas we used to burn pine cones collected as they fell in Autumn such a lovely smell. Add to that all the orange peel and the smell was delicious, so seasonal. That has bought back a lot of happy memories to me |

Yes but ours cracked the back boiler so we had to treat it like an open fire. Then we bought the house and had the parkray taken out, a gas cylinder put in the garden, back then there wasn't any mains gas in the village. |
