Grrrr, could they have been prisoners of war do you think?

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 16 Sep 2021 23:41

A problem is that they are mostly born in the 1920's so no census to work from :-|

ZZzzz

ZZzzz Report 16 Sep 2021 23:39

Sounds like me but I almost always have to have help from somewhere cos i'm not that good yet, especially if it before censuses came out but I plod along and get them in the end.

That is what I am doing as they are both on the town memorial. I have searched newspapers and 1939 etc with no luck at all. I have found 3 that also had no details with help from the local press but these 2 are evading me at the moment. I will not give up though as I am like a terrier with a rag when I get going :-D

It is nice that they commemorate them but it doesn't help the likes of us does it!
Where are the names, would you be able to search for them in the place where the plaque is, if that makes sense.

LaGooner Report 16 Sep 2021 23:20

That is probably the best idea. I have 2 WW2 soldiers that I only have names for and no cwgc information and I cannot work out who they are. It would help if I had the dates they died and their age.

Oh I'm using a shovel cos of that Kingsclere person that is trying to hide from me, she has so far.

Edit. The Hampshire Library is not far away so I might go there tomorrow.

LaGooner Report 16 Sep 2021 23:01

ZZzzz Report 16 Sep 2021 22:58

So we will have to whisper then, if you are digging up patios at this time of night maybe it is better to use a shovel rather than a JCB. ;-)
