YG Report 18 Dec 2010 20:24

Evening everyone.

No snow here and none forecast until Thursday, but it is absolutely freezing cold!! The car windows have the most beautiful ice shapes on them.

Even Muffy is laying near the radiator!!

Battled for another three hours in town this afternoon. Still need to go back tomorrow. I haven't got the staying power these days and after a couple of hours my back feels as though it's breaking in two!

Feet up tonight, relaxing and watching tv, keeping warm.

LaGooner Report 18 Dec 2010 21:10

Evening got a good few inches of snow here and driving this afternoon was very dodgy , a trip that usually takes 10 minutes took us over 1/2 hour. A nice piece of Stollen and a hot coffee would be just the ticket LOL.We at least managed to get some shopping done before the snow started .

RockyMountainShy Report 18 Dec 2010 23:42

Is it big flakes or little flakes? wet or dry? warm or cold?

Yes, don't drive like there is no ice on the road because 10 to 1 there is. I did that 2 or three days ago and nearly hurt the car again. I guess I got a little over excited.

Night Night sleepy heads

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 19 Dec 2010 09:39

Morning all - glad you made it back safely yesterday LG. The last piece of Stollen on it's way. Make sure you get to it before the birds do!

It snowed quite heavily for about 4 hours yesterday - granular, flakes, granular all on top of a thin layer of ice from the rain that fell on Friday. Not having been out since last Monday, I couldn't tell you how deep it is! There is about 1 1/2 in on the garden, but OH says it is level with the kerb further down the road - possiby drifted. He needed to collect a prescription from the chemist - went out - long queues to go down the hill and along the valley floor to the village, so decided to come home and leave it until Monday.

PC was supposed to drive via M25/M23 to Epsom but decided to err on the side of caution and didn't. At the time, there was only one lane open on the M25.

Sorry to hear that you had a near miss RMS - that must have been quite scarey! You were very brave YG facing the hordes at the shops yesterday, but I suppose needs must. Unless you know exactly what and where you want to get, it can be v tiring. Better luck today. When BM worked at the local shoppping Mall, I used to take him to work for 9 on Sat, shop/wander around until 11 by which time I'd had enough and the crowds were beginning to build up. Time to go home!

Take care everyone - hopefully we wil have a thaw darn suff by Wed and I can go out!!!

LaGooner Report 19 Dec 2010 09:48

Morning all, we had a little more of the hateful whitestuff during the night methinks up to about 4ins at a guess.
Thanks for the cake DET just what I need with my coffee as it's minus 8 outside according to my theremometer on the wall. Just took a step outside to make sure the fish had not frozen in the pond and boy straight back in again with icicles on the nose !!! LOL

YG Report 19 Dec 2010 17:00

Mmm, my son has to travel down to Epsom early in the morning from here, as he is based there during the week. I hope he has a 4x4 and things aren't too bad for him. His offices are at the top of a hill and the motorway doesn't sound good from what DET is saying.

I was going to put off town until tomorrow, but as it is a beauty (haha) day ( feet and hair lol), I wouldn't have had time in between appointments, so braved it today. I hadn't really got a lot to do, but I am so sick of wandering round not knowing what to get for some of the presents. Spent another three hours pondering, but have now finished apart from visiting T**s are U* tomorrow and I can do that by car when I have done the food shopping.

Have I told you before ......................... I hate Christmas!!!

Need a makeover, methinks. I am going to colour my hair myself instead of paying a fortune. Any suggestions of colour, girls!!!!

I was looking at one of the top franchise hair salons in town this afternoon and to book an appointment with the creative stylist was £50 for a cut and blow dry!! I can't say on here what I think of that, or I will be banned for life!!

Must sit and do some more wrapping now and a nice hot cuppa! Any more of that fruit cake left DET??

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 19 Dec 2010 17:44

Here you are YG - a piece of fruit cake. Enjoy. You need it after your 'I hate Christmas' trip to the shops!!!!!!!!!

Don't worry about your son - the motor way map seems fine at the moment, although who knows what will happen between now and then - lol

We won't recognise you after your make over. I'm hopeless at hair colours; why not ask your posh salon what they would suggest? You have to think of your brow colours so there isn't too much of a contrast. Personally, I prefer semi permanent colouring - no roots and gradually fades over about 3 months.

OH has done himself proud today - braved the outside to the dustbin, put the vac around for me and spring cleaned the bathroom. The last was his idea...not mine! I did manage to stand upright for long enough to iron a pile of his shirts, but have a peculiar list to the port. And no, I haven't been drinking (yet) lol

Pauline $(*-*)$ Report 19 Dec 2010 17:53

Well start drinking now DET and you won't notice the list. I enjoyed the stollen, thank you for sending it.

It's been snowing here for a couple of hours, if it continues like this, we won't be getting the centre bus in this area again.

Take care everybody.

YG

YG Report 19 Dec 2010 18:05

Hi Pauline. Please don't send it down here before Friday!!

DET. I can't afford to even walk in the salon!! As for recognising me, I'm sure you won't have trouble there. Miracles are needed with me!!

I mentioned it at work earlier this week and they were planning a GOK makeover!! I've told them to forget it, as I'm not baring all on the catwalk at the Bullring in Birmingham!!

I have a meeting with floating support manager with some shifts to book in over the holiday will try and do half days if i can

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 20 Dec 2010 11:23

Morning all - did the Centre bus make it, Pauline????

Glad Frog and Tadpole made it down from the moors. fingers crossed there are no problems for Saturday. If you do get any shifts over the hols, best to pack a toothbrush and unmentionables in case you get stuck there. :(

It looks cold outside, with lying snow...not that I intend to go further than the milk bottles - lol. About to pack OH off down to the chemist, once he has asked the workmen doing things across the road to move their van. It does so annoy me - we've now got ruts in our grass as we have to do a tight turn when reversing for the last 18 months or so. We have asked them NOT to park directly opposite the drive, but it still happens. OH doesn't want to slide into their van and damage his car. Grump over for the time being!

Anyone seen LG recently????

Derek Report 20 Dec 2010 12:30

Hello everybody!..since the Authorities in charge of your Nuthouse will no doubt be releasing you all, temporary, into the custody of your own families,for the festive season, I thought I'd pop in and wish you all the very best for Christmas and the New Year....and i look forward hopefully to some work on my Derbyshire thread in the new Year.......even if it is the bleedin' Meahams (LA!)

love to all..Derek.

Hi Derek - Season's Greetings, and thank you for yours.
If you'd care to extend your repetoire to Nottingham, I'm sure I can keep you busy. :0

It's possible that the authorities have been granting 24 hour Home Leave recently, as the conversation is a little sparse, to say the least - lol. Hopefully they will keep the Lodge open, so we can escape from the boosoms of our families and take refuge in the padded cell. Bah, Humbug :0

Afternoon all, hope you are all safe and warm x

LOL Derek I will be back onto the tree after Xmas for sure. I am sure I can find you some more Meshams LOL

Been really busy trying to catch up with cleaning and tiding this house, I have been peeking in to see what you are all up to but it's been so quiet I thought you have all gone into hibernation.

Pauline $(*-*)$

Pauline $(*-*)$ Report 20 Dec 2010 17:20

I wish we could hibernate LG, it would be lovely to sleep through this snow and ice and wake up to sunshine. I would need to sleep that long to get rid of the bags under my eyes.

The bus got through today DET, drove about 5mph but made it.

Edit: All the best to you as well Derek.
