I'm still in bed Jem :-D

OH brought me a cuppa. It is chilly so I'm staying nice and warm for a little while :-D

Hi Sue :-)

How are you and yours this morning?

SueMaid Report 17 Sep 2013 22:23

Hello everyone :-D

I'm so pleased you had a lovely day with your sister, Tec. You'll be eating leftovers forever :-D

Jemima - what a dreadful way to lose your father :-(

Hello our Persie :-)

JemimaFawr Report 17 Sep 2013 22:20

You will miss him Tec. They are very good company. I miss our Shep but I don't want another for many reasons, although I do get broody at times! :-D

Tecwyn Report 17 Sep 2013 22:16

That's awful Jemima - and can only imagine what a dreadful time it was for you and your brother. Accidents like that can happen to anyone, more often than not we get away with it, but sadly sometimes the outcome is catastrophic - I'm sorry.

Taffy's mother came home today, so he has gone home too. He was no trouble with us. He just seems to accept any situation without question. Follows me about everywhere, just as my old dog did. Though he is very miffed that I can't play with him at the moment - I get some very reproachful looks :-D

It was an awful time Tec, thankyou for saying.

He had brought me and my older brother up as a single parent. He was putting in a heating system (he was a fitter by trade) and was welding pipes in the bathroom. One of the gas cylinders was leaking. It started a fire and then he went back in :-0 The Carbon Monoxide killed him rather than the fire or following explosions, for which I was grateful. I was just 18 at the time.

Good Evening Jemima,

Yes it was a lovely day, and a bit of escapism from this perishing leg.

I couldn't decide if Linda was sitting on a boulder, or a lounger :-D

I'm sorry to see that your father died in that way. What a tragedy for the family.

Good Morning Persie,

It was my pleasure to meet, albeit very briefly, the young lady on the railway station. I am not in the habit of accosting ladies on railway platforms, but as I live so far off the beaten track, and that lady, whom I have the greatest respect for, was passing a few hundred yards from my house, it was too good an opportunity to miss.
It had to be the briefest "meet" in GR history - a very Brief Encounter, but I don't think I held up the train :-D.

You had a bit of a round trip waiting for the car - so long since I travelled on a train.

I hope you make it to Dubrovnic one day :-)

Hi Tec,

:-)So pleased that you have had such a lovely day with your sister and her OH. I hope that it helped to take your mind off your leg a little. It's lovely reminiscing!

I also love Bernese Mountain Dogs!<3

:-)Linda- Are you enjoying sitting on your FOUNDER. I assume it was supposed to be LOUNGER!!! :-D :-D

:-)Persie- I still count the years for my parents too. My father would have been 91 this year. He was killed in a fire at our home in 1976. It's hard to believe that I am now older than he was when he died!

Hi Sue if you are awake yet! :-)

Hi also to Huia, Berona, Sylvia, Diane, Amanda, Carole, Dianne and anyone else looking in on the Aussie Thread :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

Sorry if I left anyone out- Love Jem <3

Had a wonderful day with my sister and her OH. She hasn't changed a bit in eight years, and we had so many laughs reminiscing about things in the past. It was good to see her looking so well and happy. A lovely day.
They left late afternoon for a hotel near Porthmadog, and are visiting Portmeirion tomorrow.
My buffet lunch was a great success, except I made too much :-D

Will just move this to the front page...

My father would have been 109 yesterday which is still today in UK.. 17th...

I heard about you Tec and your meeting with a young lady at a railway station, and that she was very pleased to see you.

I was puddling around on trains yesterday.. the car was taken for a pre-warrant check up and we trained around after coffee of course for our return journey. Car was ready late yesterday afternoon so we will be on the bus, then a train into the city and as I want to go further afield a train out further and then back to get the car... some of us have to be content with that as Dubrovnik is too far away. OH has been there but I have not.. he has always said it is somewhere we should go. ha ha when?

Enjoy your evening up toppers

And you Aussie crew and Huia enjoy your day.. and I will talk to you later Sylvs elsewhere..

I bet TEC is running round like a scalded cat by now :-)

It is a bit overcast now, it looks as if there was some rain overnight. It is going to get better as the day goes on.

Yesterday afternoon, we went to sit on the founders by the indoor pool, but it was far too hot in there, so we went on the beach and it was perfectly warm enough., so we will probably do the same today.

It is nice to see OH just doing nothing but relaxing and reading because at home he is on the go all of the time. I know some people feel they have to be going out on trips all of the time, but we are perfectly happy doing nothing

Tec - I'm relieved to know that you finally got the attention of the sister and I hope you will take care to rest the leg. Just sit and talk to your sister when she comes. Make a big pot of tea or coffee and open a packet of biscuits. Don't fuss about.

That fine mist of rain was all we had until 10pm, when we got a normal shower. Nothing since, although inner Sydney had thunderstorms. They are nearer to the coast than I am. To-day started cloudy, but now becoming more blue and the sun keeps poking through.

Hi Sue, and everyone

we also had heavy rain overnight .......... and I saw lightening when I got up about 2:15 am ot go to the loo. I didn't hear any thunder, though.

It was still raining heavily early this morning, but then it tailed off to drizzle, cloudy, and showers.

Now, at just after 5 pm, the sun is coming out, and the sky is blue with fluffy white clouds :-S

Tec ........... I am so glad that you got the Sister to have a look at your leg. I do hope her treatment will help the ulcers to heal, even though she wants to wait a week before giving you other antibiotics.

I must say, I don't quite understand her reasoning there!

Do enjoy your sister's visit tomorrow <3

take care everyone

It is very strange Sue - I miss Ianto especially when I'm in the garden. I still find myself looking round to see what he's doing.
Maybe later on you will decide to have another dog, when the time is right. We had dogs for 50 years, so it's natural to miss having one around the place.

Well I'm off to bed now, not that I'll stay there :-|

Enjoy your day Sue - hope the weather cheers up today.

Goodnight,
Tec :-)

I don't like not having a dog in the house. We've had dogs for so many years - our family can't remember us not having a dog. I just can't bring myself to get another dog just yet although it is over a year since we lost Molly. I still miss her very much as I'm sure you do Ianto :-(

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 16 Sep 2013 23:10

Labradors don't "grow up" till they're about three years old. I think Ianto was born old :-D. He was a very serious dog, always looked worried. Probably living with me :-D

A lady in the village has had a beautiful Bernese Mountain Dog puppy. I love those dogs, and so wish I was ten years younger, and fitter. I must resist the temtation, though it is still very strange not having a dog, even though Taffy is around :-)

That's what my brother was saying. They tended to overindulge Cooper at times. They aren't sure how old he is as he was a rescue dog. They both do some volunteer work at an animal shelter and fell in love with him. He is definitely a young dog probably about 3 or 4 according to the vet.
