Hi Berona :-)
How are you today?
Awful things- Bush Fires. We get gorse fires on the hills sometimes when there's been no rain in the summer. Awful for people to lose their homes or worse. I also think how terrible it must be for the wildlife.

:-D :-D :-D Mersey!

Any room for me on the back of your pink sparkly moped? :-) I could do with getting away from it all!
Do I need some of your concoction- or a tranquiliser though? :-S or both :-D :-D

Hello Berona - wonderful to see you :-) Yes very hot here yesterday but so much cooler this morning. We may also get a little rain - I hope so.

Berona Report 13 Oct 2013 22:40

Good morning from Sydney. 36c yesterday. To-day only expected to be 23. Now, that's mercurial, isn't it??
I have to admit that I didn't feel it much. My house is cool until the sun gets around to my courtyard and then on to my glass walls - THEN, I feel it! However, I watch it and switch my air conditioning on about half an hour before it gets that far, so I don't feel it - except, of course, when I go out to water the pots - twice daily in that kind of weather.
Our news tells us that five properties have been lost in one of yesterday's bushfires. Also, a fire started in a busy carpark in Sydney and more than 40 cars were destroyed. It seems to have been started either by a cigarette butt thrown onto dead grass, or a hot exhaust from a car - the grass fire started and was close to a parked car (too close, apparently). Goodness me - and we are only half-way through Spring!

Don't drink too much of Mersey's concoction, Jem - you will be exhausted by the end of the day and may do your back an injury :-0 I'll have a swig too if you don't mind :-D

This dentist was so much better and he was well aware of the problem Drew had with the last dentist. Drew was so good and relaxed that we're hoping that the other experience will fade in his mind and he will remember this last visit.

Oh poor Drew :-(

It's too bad that he had such a bad dental experience at a young age. I do hope that it won't have a lasting effect on how he views going to the dentist. Better for him to be out while it's all going on.

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 13 Oct 2013 22:30

Jem - Drew had a nasty fall at school and damaged a couple of teeth. Drew was so traumatised by the way the dentist treated him when his mouth was so sore and swollen that it was decided by another dentist to put him under to get the work done.

Hello Jemima - Gosh that was a very newsy post - you have been a busy bee.
My maternal Gt Gandmother's family were from Haverfordwest, and I remember researching St. Nicholas a while back'

We have a robin that comes into the house quite often. The other day he sat on the mantelpiece looking at me until I opened the window for him to escape. :-D.
Chaos if Taffy is here because he chases birds :-(

Hello Jem - sounds like you've had a lovely day despite getting your shoes and socks drenched. You'll know better next time. Yes it does make things easier that we get on so well with Aiden's mum. My son also gets on very well with Aiden's other grandparents as we do.

Mersey quietly closing the door :-0 I'll believe it when I see it :-D

Hello Everyone :-)

It's taken me 2 hours to read back a weeks posts! :-S Been trying to catch up on anything I may have missed!

:-)Sue-
You had a lovely time with all your family around you :-) It's great that you have all kept on such good terms with Aiden's mum. It is always so much better for the children that way too.

What fun Mersey is! :-D :-D I wish she could bottle her enthusiasm and send some of it to me! :-D What mode of transport will she arrive on next I wonder?

:-)Linda- I hope that you have had / or are having a good time with your family. It's lovely for you and your OH to be able to spend time with Eve and Esme. Sorry Esme has been unwell.

:-)Tec-
I have just read that hopefully you will be ( at long last ) getting some help from Social Services. Hope they can come up with something positive to help you. The robin was back again later. I managed to take photos on my phone from the other side of the door!
I told Tec on the Welsh thread this morning that A robin has been dive bombing my back door. Hovering while looking at his reflection!

:-)Diane and :-)Huia- Hope you dental / medical appointments go well. I need a wisdom tooth out soon.

:-)Berona-
The baby is doing very well thankyou. He is a big lump! He is laughing at everyone now!

:-)Percie-
Hope you are feeling better after your op.

:-)Allan-
Good to see you back posting. I'm sure the gang are glad to see you back. Perhaps see you later on the quizzes :-D

:-)Carole- how are you keeping?

We went to Pembrokeshire Monday. Pembrokeshire is West Wales and is where my Father and all his ancestors were from. It was drizzly when we left but we knew it was going to brighten up down there.

We stopped off in a fabulous shop on the way (needed the loo ) called Vincent Davies in Fishguard Road, Haverfordwest. If it isn't there- you don't need it! Furniture, clothing, ornaments, glasswear, pottery, gifts you name it- it's huge!!!! Restaurant and Garden Centre which would suit our AnnG down to the ground (unintentional pun there I notice!!!) Pricey though- but top quality stuff if you can afford it. I would have liked to have £1000 just to fritter away in there! and another good few thousand to spend on furniture (In my dreams of course!)

Got to the area I wanted to go to a little late really- about 12-30. We decided to eat our sandwiches then and stop off for a pub meal on the way home. HOWEVER!!!! Our heavy walking trainers got soaked through right to our socks and our jeans halfway up our legs while grave hunting ( should have taken our wellies! ) so we had to settle for buying chips from our local chip shop to take home!!!

There was no "Eureka" moment though. I had "eureka" overload on the last two visits following my genes research, and I think I have exhausted that particular area now. I did find one or two people to research, but nobody special except for a 4xGreat Uncle, who is also a 3x Great Uncle, due to 2 sisters marrying people who's descendants would marry, merging 2 or even 3 of my lines of ancestry.

We also went to St Nicholas where one of my 4x Great Grandmother and Fathers were born.
Next time we go down I am going to go to the Nolton / Roch area of Pembrokeshire where my Gran's father's family were from. That will be all new to me.

We found the old Trefin / Trevine Mill on the coastal road on the way to Llanrhian. We enjoyed it there. We went down to the little beach for a while. My OH got attacked! A stone hurtled in his direction, missing him by inches! He shouted "who did that?!" Then 2 Weimaraner dogs appeared barking over the cliff. A young man appeared who claimed it was in one of the dog's mouth and it dropped it! OH is convinced it was him though. Perhaps he threw it not realising that we were there!

My physiotherapist has referred me back to my GP as she is concerned about some of my symptoms which are not due to the arthritis.

Well apart from Granddaughter 1 and 2 spending most of the week here with Grandson 1 that's all my news really.

Hope you are all as well as can be today- Love Jem
<3

Sue it will be much less traumatic for Drew to be asleep during his dental work. As you say, more upsetting for his mum. I expect he will have a sore mouth afterwards - poor Drew.

Hello Tec - I'm so pleased you've had such a good weekend with your daughter although I've missed chatting with you. It's good that you are managing to get some sleep. I would imagine it will take awhile for Social Services to visit but hopefully they will offer some practical help. I'm sorry to hear the Duchess is ill - I hope she feels much better soon.

It was very hot yesterday but a cool change blew in through the night and it's lovely this morning.

Drew goes into day surgery to have his dental work done - I feel more sorry for his mum as Drew will be asleep when the work is done :-(

Hello Sue, and Hello Mersey :-)

Tecwyn Report 13 Oct 2013 21:56

It's been a very dull day here. We had the lights on all day, and it rained this evening.

It was lovely having our daughter here for a couple of days. Yesterday (Sat) she went to the supermarket early, and came back loaded with shopping. Now the freezer and the pantry are bulging at the seams. We certainly won't starve, whatever happens.
Then she spent the rest of the day going about like a whirlwind cleaning the kitchen, bathroom etc. I do keep the place clean and tidy, but obviously not up to her standards :-)
She cooked dinner last night, and left at 7-45 am today for home.
I think she is planning to return in two weeks.

The Duchess has a severe chest infection, and the nurse that calls on me got her some antibiotics - hopefully that will clear it up quickly.
I am in less pain than I was, and sleeping better. I take two morphine tablets morning and evening, and can top up with the liquid morphine in between if it becomes necessary.
Although effective in killing most of the severe pain, the morphine is knocking me about a bit, and I just want to sleep.
The nurse will call again tomorrow. She is very efficient and caring, and has arranged for someone to call from Social Services eventually.
I would like them to help the Duchess really.
