I don't think I could either. The other thing I can't believe is what they are calling "bushfire tourists". They make things much harder for the firemen and it seems so ghoulish to want to see the destruction caused by the fires. Of course there are always the looters :-( |

Sue, what really gets to me, and it happens in all States: the volunteers are out trying to save others' properties, and sometimes their own burn down. |

Allan - I always think of the families of the firemen. How they must fear that awful knock on the door. There have been firemen lost in dreadful fires and I'm sure that everyone thinks about their families at times like this. They are true heroes. |

Sue, the poor firies must be exhausted. I know that others from various States and NZ are ready to help, but I can't help but admire the work that these volunteers do, where ever they come from. |

Hello Mersey - yes the worry is that there might be a mega fire. The firemen are working very hard to contain the fires. Although we're not in the danger from the fires we have been warned to watch out for burning embers and leaves. My OH and son spent the morning making sure there was no debris lying around that could catch alight. Luckily we have gutter guards so no dead leaves in the gutters. Unfortunately we have the bush at the back of us so we're hoping that doesn't go up. I can't remember the last time there was a fire up on the hillside but conditions are so unusual for this time of year :-( |
