Good morning upside down ladies, the fires have just been on the news again

Hello Berona and Linda :-) Tec will be relieved to know you are not in danger Berona. Typical of him to think of other people when he has his own problems.

Before I forget. I won't be on line in the morning because the carpet fitter is coming to put the new carpet on the stairs and in the study. That means that the internet will have to be disconnected for a while

Hello all. I'm up early to-day because I have an appointment this morning and my daughter-in-law is coming to take me to it.

Yes, the fires are still bad. More than 2000 people are out there fighting them with little or no sleep, and most of them volunteers. Some fires are still out of control and it doesn't help when kids are caught deliberately lighting them! Last count was that 210 homes have been lost and many damaged.- with more heat and wind forecast, so it's a long way from being over.

Linda - thanks for keeping us informed about Tec. Give him my best (and the duchess too) and tell him I'm in no danger - there are miles of residential area past my place before the fire risk area. I will never be threatened by bushfires.

Hello everyone - thank you for your thoughts about the fires. Not much smoke in the air this morning but that just means the wind isn't blowing it our way. A relief for those with asthma and other breathing problems.

Thanks again Linda for the update. Poor Tec won't like being so inactive :-( I hope they can do something about the pain so he can rest. Isn't it lovely that we and the Welsh thread are so united in our best wishes for Tec and the Duchess.

I too have been watching the news , the situation with the fires is terrifying . I do so hope that they are bought under control soon . Stay safe x

Diane , I hope you got on okay at the meeting with your adviser . Three weeks with no money !! This Govenment really is trying it's hardest to kill off the vulnerable / disabled folk of Gt Britian . I have my dreaded ATOS " medical " on Monday ( next ) , wish me luck because I'm sure the results will be simply down to " luck " , they don't tend to take into account any medical evidence / GPs letters etc etc .

of it, poor firemen must be devastated, such brave men.

The Bush Fire situation is absolutely terrible. I have just seen the latest news. I have seen the method they are using to try to combat it on documentaries- "Fight Fire with Fire" If they burn the perimeter of an area in a controlled way, anything that could catch fire has already been burned away so that there is nothing left to catch fire and so stop it spreading any further. Trouble is is that it is such a huge area that is on fire.

Those poor people, and as you have said- the firemen and their families. How frightened they all must be. I hope you are all safe. Stay alert all of you. Sue keep a check on the bush at the back of you. Let's hope the temperature comes down soon too.

Awful weather, no TV only in day room.Worried about bush fires NSW.Listen to news radio4, Berona at greatest risk. Bad night, lots of pain.

I have reassured him that Berona is not in a fire risk area. I thought that every hospital bed in the country had one of those pay to watch tv's over the bed, obviously not in his hospital
