Tec , I don't doubt that your lovely daughter is more than happy to help you both out whilst she can , she must be worried about how you . It is good to know that you are going to accept any help you can get from social services until you are back on both your legs .

Taffys owner sounds like a very careing lady , it is so sad that she has had to experiance the sadness of loseing him so soon . We had a magnificant Lurcher ,( before we ended up with the ones we have currently ) , he had to be put to sleep because of bone cancer , he was just 18 months old . It broke our hearts and is still a deep sadness all these years later .
Both of ours have various lumps and bumps but I'm leaving well alone , Milo will be 13 on the first of Jan and Bandit is coming up for 9 .

Jem , I'm sorry to hear you had such saddness with your cat , as owners we know when the time is right to say good bye <3 x

The same thing happened to my cat Tec. I lost both my dog and cat to cancer. He started walking on his paws bent inwardly. He was such clean cat, and would not use a litter tray, so I would go out with him. I realise that it was no longer kind to let him carry on.

Good Evening Amanda - I don't know what we'd have done this past couple of weeks without my daughters help.
The Duchess isn'nt very mobile these days, and now I am more or less legless. Things will improve I'm sure, and I'm going to accept any help I can get from Social Services.

Taffy developed a small lump on his face a while back. It turned out to be a bone cancer. He didn't appear to be affected in any way, being very playful and lively.
Apparently his back legs began to give way during the week, and the vet said it was connected to the cancer in a neurological way.
His mother had spent a great deal of money in recents months on chemo therapy.

As your daughter is there to look after you, she can get coffee all round tonight :-D :-D

Thank you for "Rainbow Bridge" Mersey - it is such a lovely poem.

Taffy's mother had never had a dog before, but decided to have one after her husband died of a brain tumour.
She was so good to him, and no expense was spared in his care and vetinary fees.
He was walked on the beach or the mountain twice a day, regardless of the weather, just as Ianto was.
I hope very much that she will have another one later, and we are maybe allowed to "share" him again.

Welcome home Tec :) I hope very much indeed that your leg continues to improve . I expect the Duchess is happy to be back in the " cave " as well .
It is good to know you have your daughter there also , to help you both settle back in .
I am so sorry to hear that Taffy as gone , had he been ill or was it just old age ?
I hope your neighbour will consider getting another companion , she will miss him being about the place and although you can never truely replace a loved pet giving another one a home can help to ease the hurt .

It's so good to be back among my friends. I wish they had WiFi connection at the hospital. I was in a single bed room up on the fifth floor with a lovely view of Shropshire towards the Welsh hills.
Having a single room in hospital has its advantages, but it is a bit lonely at times.

A Poem for Tec, Duchess and Taffy <3

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Tec- It would be really nice if she does have another dog. I know that it would never replace Taffy, but they are such lovely companions. Also, It would be nice for you and the Duchess to be able to enjoy occasionally having a share, without all the responsibility that of course you would not be well enough for.

Thankyou both. Yes it is terribly sad that Taffy went while I was away. I wish he could have waited a few more days, but was not to be.

Maybe his mother will consider having another dog later, as she really did enjoy his company, and yes I will miss him, he was such a fun dog
