When we were in Cyprus earlier in the year, we watched two fire fighting helicopters collecting water from the sea in front of us to put out a grass fire. they were there for a long time

Good morning all. Just a quick note before I switch off for the night. I worry about Tec, but fully understand you, Linda, not wanting to ring in case he is otherwise engaged and it is difficult for him to get to the phone. It's best to wait for him to make contact when it is suitable for him, even though we want to hear about him.

Please send us some of your rain. Fires are reasonably controlled, but still not out. The fire fighting helicopters have been dipping their 'buckets' in the river in front of the caravan park, so best that nobody is up there, although all the van owners want to check it out. They'll just have to wait until it's safe to go there.

It will be nice Mersey, but it started off as a small job.
It was only the stairs and upstairs landing, plus the fourth bedroom which we use as a study which were having new carpet.
The change of colour of the carpet meant OH had to repaint all the walls. Then we decided to re carpet the other three bedrooms, so he had to change the paint colour in one of them. Then he decided that he would change the paint colour in the kitchen and utility room as well

So the whole thing escalated. Still the charity shops have benefited from the huge amount of stuff I have thrown out.

Good morning Mersey.

We always ask to keep the room if we are leaving later than the checkout, but some hotels demand a huge amount of money to do that. I don't mind paying a reasonable rate, but I won't be ripped off

I haven't heard back from Tec at all, so I hope he is OK. I don't want to ring in case it means he has to move to get the phone.

It has been raining for most of the night and it still is. OH is putting the last coat of paint on the kitchen, I will be glad when it is finished so I can get the downstairs tidy again. The new carpets are being fitted up stairs on Thursday and Friday. We are having them done over two days so we can move all the furniture round to leave empty rooms for the carpet fitters. There is too much stuff to fit into the fourth bedroom to have the other three done at once. I hate the house being in a mess,so I will be really pleased once everything is back in place again.

Packed already but we just paid a little extra so we have the room until early evening. It makes life much easier as we don't have to leave our luggage with the reception staff and find something to do for the rest of the afternoon - we get to relax for the day.

Lovely to get away but it will be nice to get home :-)

I feel so sad for our very dear friend Tec - life must be so very difficult for him and the Duchess. Like Berona has said it is awful feeling so helpless :-(

Sorry, while hospitals can be graded, the quality of care throughout the system can't.

I'm very concerned about Tec, as you all are. Not that I could do anything if I was there, but it makes you feel so helpless, doesn't it? And all that pain he has gone through too. I hope that he can get some home help.

I have checked and learned that the caravan park is on alert but nobody is there. The park is on the water's edge and a little 'village' is behind the park (about 30 to 40 homes) and behind that is the main road which has bushland on both sides until it reaches the village. At present, fires are burning on the other side of the road and the wind is blowing further into the bush - but if the wind changes, it will get to the homes first and then to the caravan park. I believe the fire fighters are doing their usual fantastic job of back-burning and we have hope of them being able to contain it to the other side of the road. Fingers crossed. Toes, arms, legs, too.

oh ... that si so sad to hear about Tec

Linda that is sad new's about Tec and his ulcer's :-( the hospital should have had a care package put in place before he came home knowing he is the only carer for the Duchess and was unlikly to be able to look after her or himself :-| I wish I lived near him so I could have helped ( my old occupation side of me coming out ) :-)
