Diane

I'm curious????

who on earth would have "ordered the BBC and all media" not to cover whatever protests are taking place in London????

Is there some great conspiracy going on to keep British people in the dark about events such as this???

I did see something about London protests in the media by looking online ........................... INCLUDING from the BBC!

but it most certainly is not worldwide protests!

In fact, as far as I am concerned, most, if not the majority of Anonymous demonstrators can go and take a long jump off a short pier!!

The majority that we see over hear are just plain out to cause trouble ............ the "usual" culprits who turn out for all demonstrations just to cause damage and hurt to anyone and anything. They seem to get particular enjoyment out of hurting policemen and burning down buildings.

~~~~~ to everyone :-)
Linda thank you for keeping us updated about Tec and the Duchess, glad to hear that his ulcers are starting to improve and I hope they continue to. Great new's that his daughter has been able to get more time off work to keep an eye on them both, please pass on my best wishes to them both :-) <3
Amanda I have been looking forward to today and hope thngs go well in London with the protest ( as usual BBC and all the tabloids ) will not be covering it because they will have been ordered not to :-|
Let me know if you hear any new's, just wish I could have been there :-(
Sue as much as it is nice to get away it is also nice to get back to your own bed, have a safe journey :-) <3
Berona I wish I could send you some of our rain, every time it has rained over the past week I think of all of you over there and tell it to go away over to you. I hope the helicopters keep the fire away from the caravan park <3
~~~~ to Jem, hope all is well with you :-) <3

~~~~~~ to Mersey as you whizz in and out :-D
Well I go to the dentist tomorrow and not a day to soon, my tooth is still causing me pain and has given me a few sleepless night :-( I just hope once the new crown has been fitted that I am pain free if not I will tell dentist to take the damn thing out.
My daughter and 3 grand daughter's were all here for tea tonight and the tooth was paining me so much that when tea was ready I couldn't eat it with them so I had it after they had left, fortunately it was scouse so I was able to heat it up.
Good night / enjoy your day <3
we can buy fireworks for 1 week before October.
They are supposed to be set off only on October 31.
That's it, in Vancouver.
A few communities with large East Indian populations have a bylaw that allows fireworks to be sold for a certain one of their religious celebrations.
everyone setting of fireworks is supposed to have a permit to do so .................. and the city police are out in force to check that!
we're not even allowed to buy fireworks for New Year's Eve.
LindainHerriotCountry
LindainHerriotCountry Report 5 Nov 2013 22:13
It is only 10.10 pm Berona,so we are not in bed yet
The large supermarkets sell fireworks to the public, as long as you are over a certain age. That of course doesn't stop children from getting them
Berona
Berona Report 5 Nov 2013 22:06
Have I really caught you all before you make your way to bed?
Just want to say that the Australian bonfire night used to be 24th May, celebrating Empire Day - which no longer exists. As fireworks became more sophisticated (and dangerous), it was moved to Queen's Birthday weekend, hopefully that it would be too cold to enjoy. Later - although we still hear fireworks somewhere around us, everywhere, we now have a ban on all fireworks being used unless being controlled by registered pyrotechnicians. They may not be sold anywhere, but somehow, some people manage to buy them - and strangely, they are readily available in Canberra - our Federal Capital!!?!
LindainHerriotCountry
LindainHerriotCountry Report 5 Nov 2013 21:58
I don't know anything about protests, in any case it is too cold out there :-D
SylviaInCanada
SylviaInCanada Report 5 Nov 2013 21:38
what protests????????????????????????????
not heard a thing about any protests "all around the world" over here. :-D
EDIT:-
If it is the Anonymous protests on Bonfire Night ....................... there has not been a peep on this side of the Atlantic. That's despite what the map I found via google is showing
Remember that Bonfire Night and the importance of November 5th is a UK thing .......................... it is not important anywhere else in the world, except by the occasional Brit immigrant
but also ................... bonfires and fireworks are banned almost everywhere, so it wouldn't be anywhere near the same.
Linda , thank you so much for the update on Tec and the Duchess . I am so releaved to hear that there is at long last some improvement with the ulcer . No doubt Tec will feel bouyed up with that news . It is also wonderful that his daughter has managed to get the needed time off from work . Please pass on my love to him :)
I hope you and your OH managed to sort out the online form , I don't know what the hell the " powers that be " where thinking of when they decided to make everything " online " .
I'm not hanging around this evening as I'm busy trying to find out how things are going with the protests in London , other major cities in the UK and all over the world , the BBC are doing a fantastic job of keeping folks in the dark .....lol
~~~~ to everyone .

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 5 Nov 2013 20:39

OH is coming up to state pension age, so he got a letter asking him if he wanted to take it or defer it.

To claim it you could do it on line. The letter told you a couple of things you might need to hand to complete the form. So we gathered everything together and set about claiming it.

The first hurdle was that the website name on the letter was wrong, so the page couldn't be found. There should have been a hyphen between state and pension, but they missed it out. Not to worry, I dug around on the main website and found where we needed to be.

Then we set about filling the form in with OH running backwards and forwards to get all the other bits of information they had neglected to tell you that you needed.

It is all very well them trying to get people to use the computer to access services, but they need to make it simple.

Unless they are trying to sort out who should get it of course :-D :-D

I have heard from Tec. He says

"The nurse came yesterday to change the dressings on my leg, and there was some noticeable improvement this time."

I am very pleased with that, the nurse is back tomorrow, so with regular dressing, hopefully the improvement will continue.

Tec's daughter came back today which is lovely,so they will have help until the weekend.

He also said

"Please say Hi to everyone on the thread, and thank them for their good wishes and concern. I just don't feel up to joining in yet, but I do miss them."
