we had a LOT of rain today!

It would have fallen as snow on the local mountains ........... so the skiers will be happy.

The rest of the week is forecast to be dry, sunny, and cold. Temperatures down to -2 or -3C at night here in town.

I'm very pleased for you, Berona :-D. It has been nonstop all day. I think the gardens have had enough now. OH is getting bored because he can't get into the garden although he did some fertiliser on the lawn which is greening up already with all the rain.

Just have to tell you - - it's raining here!!!! Sue - I hope you are noticing this?!!
It has really rained all day with very little respite. Just a steady flow all day and still as I write (6.30pm) with more forecast. I'm having trouble with my cat. She doesn't understand what's going on because she can't remember when we last had constant rain. The roses and geraniums in my front gardens will probably die of shock. They have learned to live without water! They face the north and are half-sheltered, so when it rains, they only get a little - i any.
Good to hear that Tec and his duchess are still in the hospital. That should make him rest whilst getting the best of attention.

Sue ................ we got a report on our past fire season last week. It was very interesting!

We had about 1850 fires ...................... about average

The area burned was 17,963 hectares ...... and that was the 4th lowest in the last 10 years!

Recent years have seen hectares burned in the hundreds of thousands! For example, over 102,000 hectares in 2012.

The experts are not sure why it was so low ...................... the firefighters did manage to get into a lot of the fires early.


But it was nice to hear that there was not as much damage as usual!

Not really. I need to do some grocery shopping :-( and go to the post office but apart from that I have nothing planned. I should sort out my shoes as I bought some nice new ones in Bali but that's not a fun job so I might leave it :-D

Must be off now Diane - still haven't made the bed. Take care of that sore throat and try to get some sleep <3

I think that's why they allow some of the controlled fires to continue burning.

That's good to hear that they are under control but you still have the hottest weather to come yet :-( maybe because a lot of the dry stuff has already burnt there will not be as much danger of such fierce fire's, well I hope not.

There's still a number of fires burning but they're mostly under control. The rain we're having isn't in the right places but the lower temperatures are helping.

Sounds like you are getting the winter weather you should have had :-(
I think my immune system must be low as I seem to be getting one thing after another :-( Never mind I will dose myself up with hot Honey and lemon :-)

How are the fire's as I haven't heard anything about them for a while.

I hope you're not coming down with a cold :-(. The weather here is so changeable - we have days of hot weather then it turns cold then heats up again. No wonder we are getting colds here :-(

My cough seem's to have lingered from when I had plaurisy ( not as bad ) but my throat is sore now since yesterday, feel's like I'm swollowing glass :-(

It's too wet to work in the garden Diane :-(
