I was looking at that flooding in Scarborough.

Quite amazing!

My grandparents started going there in the 1920s ................ I have photos of my parents and brother from 1929 :-)

I started going with my parents after the war, we sued to go every year in Wakes Week (mid-June for my home town)

OH and I were last there in 1995.

I've seen many a storm where the waves were washing over Marine Drive in North Bay, and even reaching the base of the hill there ................. but never flooding in South Bay like yesterday!

I know the sort of brown bags you mean, I have seen them on the movies, but we don't have large bags like that in this country

There has been a lot of damage at Whitby with 200 properties flooded and some flooding in Scarborough, not that we have seen much about it on the news because all we are getting is continuous footage about Nelson Mandela rerun over and over again until you could scream

It's a lovely sunny day here .............................. but only about -6C brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr




Sue .................... we just put our potatoes from the garden into the ordinary brown bags that we get our groceries in (if we forget to take in the canvas bags)

OH washes them (in the laundry sink :-) ), dries them, then puts them into the bags, and puts them into a cool dark cupboard that we have in the basement.

We have some 4 litre plastic "buckets" that used to contain icecream .............. we keep one of those in a deep drawer in the kitchen with enough potatoes in it for about 3-4 meals. We don't put the lid on it!
