It is a horrible morning here, raining and drizzly. The church bells have been ringing for quite q while now, I hope they are just having a practice and that it is not for a wedding.

OH has gone to the gym to try and shed a few chocolates, rather him than me.

I am waiting for Sue to turn up to wash the kitchen floor, but she is so slow that I may have to give in and do it myself. Eve's daddy was improvising while making cocktails as we don't have a cocktail shaker (I know, the shame of it). He managed to get a Margeurita all over the floor. He did wipe it up, but didn't do as very good job as my slippers keep sticking to the floor.

Granddad and Eve did do as good job of the cake Sue, although I thought the sock was rather skinny. It was supposed to be dark red and blue, but Eve only likes pink. It was hard enough to get her to let him make some pale blue icing.

I've been catching up the UK weather, and the floods




The weather here was pretty good ................. mild, dry, and even some sun.


Quite unlike what was happening in Toronto and southern Ontario, and in New Brunswick. They had a major ice storm before Christmas, and thousands of people are still without power .......... and some are unlikely to get it before New Year.

At one point over 300,000 people were without electricity!

AND ............ there is another storm for them tonight and one over New Year!


I was sitting here watching the TV news before we went away, thinking "if this had been a year to go east to our daughter, we'd have been in the thick of THAT ............ or that ............ or that"!




Daughter bought grandson a pair of snowshoes with money I sent ................. they had him out on them today (ie, Sunday). He apparently loves them!

They're waiting to see if they get part of the next storm!

Hi Sue, and everyone

I am back in circulation!

We had a good Christmas, a bit different from what we expected, but it was still very enjoyable

Lunch on Christmas Eve at one house ................ tourtiere, which is a French Canadian specialty meat pie, traditionally served after Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve

Lunch on Christmas Day at another house ............. turkey, ham, brussel sprouts, roast potatoes, bread sauce, stuffing, Christmas pud (we took that!)

Lunch on Boxing Day with our other good friends .............. tourtiere!

We were well fed :-)


One strange thing ................... we had not arranged to meet up with the 5th friend, a single lady, age 87. M does other things at Christmas.

On Boxing Day, my daughter phones the friend we are staying with .................... did we know that M was in hospital?? No we did not! Neither did the other close friends. So it took someone on the opposite side of Canada to tell us what was happening :-)

J was doing her Christmas phone calls to friends, when M's phone was answered by someone in "to water the plants and feed the cat". Otherwise, we might not have known for days!

Apparently M had trouble swallowing on Christmas Day, and so her friends took her to Emergency!

She's now back home, more tests pending, but they seem to think it was a bad attack of acid reflux.


We will have New Year on our own .................. we're planning what "special" meal we might have.



Hope that Tec and the Duchess are doing better. xxxx

It was very good although I didn't get breakfast in bed. I did get coffee so that's ok.

Sleeping in is good :-D

Scrambled eggs and smoked salmon.....yummy :-D

I slept in this morning :-\

I have had a very lazy morning, it wasn't bacon sarnies this morning, he turned up with scrambled egg and smoked salmon instead.

If TEC doesn't post today Sue, I will ring tomorrow.

What a lovely afternoon we had spent in the garden. It was sunny and warm with a cool enough breeze to keep the temperature down. We weeded, repotted and picked fresh tomatoes for our evening meal. Bliss :-D

OH has decided he wants to go to the markets and as I want some nice summer fruits I'll go too. It's such a lovely morning it will be nice to stroll around the market stalls.

Linda - if you speak to Tec again please pass on my love. I miss his humour on here :-(
