Hello Berona although you won't be here now. It wasn't so hot here but very humid.

We spent the day sorting out a few cupboards - once we had started on one we just kept going. I feel very virtuous :-D

Hello all. Thinking of you over there in the cold whilst I have been doing nothing, trying to keep cool all day. Still very warm outside at almost dinner time - but it is overcast, so it may not have reached the 29 which was forecast. Hot enough, though.

Hey, Persie and Mersey - For once, I was all ready with my Greader's review and suggestions and can't find where to put them. Have I missed something? I don't go roaming all over the boards like I used to, so it's quite possible things have been changed and I've missed it. Or did I get the date wrong? I just hope Ann is OK.

I've been told that I loved playing in the snow but of course I don't remember.

I must be off - I have some washing to hang out.

Sleep well Linda <3

Enjoy your day Allan <3.

Love to Tec and the Duchess as always <3 <3

You must remember the nice cold British evenings Allan, but Sue won't

Hello Sue. We are expecting a cool change from tomorrow, but today looks like another uncomfortable one

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 11 Jan 2014 22:32

Hello Allan - we had a hot day yesterday but today should be cooler.

Some reshuffling will do the job. There is a big basket of the children's craft stuff that can go elsewhere.

Allan

Allan Report 11 Jan 2014 22:31

Strange, Linda, but we have our curtains closed also. It helps to keep the rooms that bit cooler. We'll put the air-con on later :-)

LindainHerriotCountry Report 11 Jan 2014 22:19

It is a bit soggy here Allan, but it is freezing tonight, so we have the central heating on and the curtains closed

Hello all,

Thanks, Linda, and as for being warm, that's a bit of an understatement. It is still 26c at the moment and no breeze to speak of :-(

I don't like the heat, but nor could I cope with the bad weather that some areas of the UK are enduring! :-0

I am sure your OH can make you more shelves

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 11 Jan 2014 22:09

It's not spring here either but OH is shredding old papers etc. this morning. I'm going to sort out a couple of shelves in the cupboard in the spare room to put my ever increasing stash of craft bits and pieces. I've sorted them into some very nice gift boxes that my SIL gave me when he closed down his book business. I now need the shelves to put the boxes on. Very involved :-D

Not much, we went to the market as normal this morning. Thisafternoon I continued sorting out the drawers in the bedroom and the wardrobe. I am in spring cleaning mode, even though spring has not sprung yet

Hello all,

my apologies for being 'missing in action', as it were :-(

Jem told me on another thread about Tec and please Linda pass on my support to him when you contact him.

Going through a mini-heatwave here currently. Today's max was 40.1c and is now hovering at 38c. Same forecast for tomorrow. Air con is only just coping. Although set at 23c it is struggling to maintain 27c, but even that feels cool

Hi Sue, and everyone

it really is raining right now. A good old Pacific storm .............. very wet and high winds on the coast, and lots of snow inland and on the mountains.

The skiers will love that!!

Linda ............... you were quite right, it was on my shin ............... and seemingly that is a hard area for healing, and prone to infection. So I have to use a prescription antibiotic cream and keep it covered for the next 2 weeks, changing the plaster every day.

It didn't actually hurt too much .................. especially as he'd numbed it well!

It was hurting this morning ............... I sleep with a leg pillow, and I think I had been lying in such a way that pressure was on that part of my leg. It eventually wore off.

Sue ................ my GP is the same, especially as it is out at the university, right next to the Medical Building! The best one I think I have had was the 1st year student, about 2 months into her course, who was "watching" .................. my doctor asked if I minded if the student took my blood pressure. It was the first time she'd taken it on a real person!

BUT the doc explained to the student exactly what happened, and why, with each step of the procedure ....................... which helped me understand exactly what was happening!

This time of year (Jan/Feb) is also a time when 4th year medics go through what they call "rotations" .......... spending time with specialists in the area(s) that they think they might be interested in. Each time I've had one of these (4 times now), it has been fascinating to watch how the "specialist" deals with them.

The dermatologist had one when I saw him the first time and then the one on Wednesday ............... he had each student trying to diagnose, and winked at me every time the student got it wrong!

I only had one question ........ how did they know when they had removed all of it, and left none behind? After all, we're always being told about the "safety margin".

I got my answer ........... bit gory, but I got my answer :-)

I think we're going out tomorrow (Saturday) to buy my birthday present :-)

OH didn't have either a card or present on Tuesday morning ............. he'd bought a card by the time he got home on Tuesday afternoon :-D

We have a tradition of the birthday person being taken for a birthday dinner at a place we have never been to before, usually choosing a more expensive place than, say, Macdonalds :-D

But I honestly did not feel like a slap-up meal on Tuesday .................. so we went to our local little bistro. I had a super lamb shank meal.

Take care everyone
