Like so many others, I have been expecting something like this to happen to Tec, have not been posting as I have waited with bated breath, hoping I was wrong.

Please send all my love and best wishes to Tec and the Duchess and their daughter. I am sure Tec will make a good recovery. He is such a determined fellow.

Oh dear, I am gutted... as you all are in regards to Tec. Like most of you as soon as I heard gangrene mentioned and the time in the medicos inactivity to any sort of action that this outcome would happen, (swear word) sorry!

Tell Tec please Linda, that I send him my love and more <3 <3 <3

Love to you all too <3

Sending special thoughts to Tec as he faces this life-changing surgery, and also his wife and family. I hope the after- care he receives will be so much better than that which led to this situation.
To his special friends on "Aussies" and elsewhere on Genes, I am sure his recovery will be greatly assisted by your close friendship and concern, and knowing that there are many people near and far who have him in their thoughts.
Best wishes, Tec, from Sue in Perth, W.A.

Hello again <3

Oh Linda such sad news about Tec :-(
Once you said there was some gangrene I had the same fear as others did that it may end up resulting in ampitation but hoped it would only have to be his foot which would have been bad enough, Linda please pass on my best wishes to Tec for a quick and painfree recovery and send my special thoughts to the Duchess, his daughter and other members of the family <3 <3

Thank you Linda for keeping us informed " bless you " <3 <3

Mersey I'm ok thanks <3

~~~~~ to all :-) <3
I have had this outcome at the back of my mind, but it still came as a shock to know it is really happening.
Such a life-changing situation for him at the moment. Suddenly to go from being his wife's devoted carer, to needing care himself - as well as the adjustment to what he won't be able to do in the future.
I can't help thinking of him and thanks again, Linda, for letting us know. Give him our love.
The main operation isn't until the end of the week, it is some sort of preliminary procedure tomorrow, I hope that goes well.
I am turning in now because Polish time is one hour ahead of English time,so I am tired
Oh dear :-( I am so very sad to hear that our dear Tec is going to have to go though such a life changing operation . I had wondered if it was a likely outcome after all the other treatments have failed . I too feel angry , especially as he had been left to suffer the pain for so many long weeks :-(
My thoughts will be with him tomorrow , hopeing for a successful operation and wishing him soon free from the pain and a good recovery , it isn't going to be an easy road but I'm sure Tec is made of true grit and determination !
My thoughts to his dear Duchess and daughter .
Thank you Linda , for keeping us informed <3
Sleep well my friend <3
Goodnight and good day to everyone <3
Sorry, I am not very chatty tonight and I have been catching up on emails.
I always tell Tec and his daughter about all the messages, they both really appreciate them. Of course I will continue to pass them on. For some reason tec always seems bemused that so many people care about him. We have a running joke about me posting bulletins on the palace railings
It is awful news Sue, but as you say inevitable.
The Duchess has settled down a bit in her nursing home,although they are having difficulties controlling her blood sugar levels
Oh Linda - poor Tec. It was inevitable of course. I can't believe the lack of care has led to this. As you said - it's appalling. I know you already have but please give Tec my love and best wishes - he is always in my thoughts.
I'm glad you and OH are back safe and sound <3
LindainHerriotCountry Report 19 Jan 2014 21:49
Hello everyone, I am back from my jaunt, we enjoyed ourselves and it is a nice place to visit, but I preferred Krakow
I have some news about Tec which is not good I am afraid.
The last few months have been difficult because I have known about the severity of his medical condition, but being the wonderful person he is, he didn't want to complain too much or worry people.I have just had to be vague and say he was having tests etc
it was only just before he went into hospital this last time that he said much. He has now given me permission to tell you what is going on.
The ulcers (which in my opinion were nursed appallingly) were a result of poor circulation caused by a blocked artery in his groin. He has known that for quite a long time, but was told that because of his prior medical conditions, it was too dangerous to do anything about it,so they would just wait and see what happened.
My second rant is what the heck do they think was going to happen???
The answer was of course that his leg became incredibly swollen and he was in severe pain. In the end he lost circulation in his feet and gangrene set in.
Since he went back into hospital they have been doing lots of scans and deciding on a course of action.
So tomorrow he is having a two filters to replace clots in the top of the leg (I don't know what that means), then on either Thursday or Friday, he is having his leg amputated.
He is being very upbeat about it.
Now is the time when he needs all of our thoughts/ prayers etc.. I am just so sad,as I am sure you all are
