Hello :-)

sorry I'm so late on here but my grand-daughter was using my laptop to watch a film with her boyfriend, she had to come home from work early because she was being sick :-( she said she even felt sick when she just stood up so she has gone to bed and her boyfriend is being very attentive " bless him " there is a bug that has been doing the rounds and I think she has it, just hope I don't get it.

Sylvia your sis-I-L send off sounds lovely and nice that she was able to arrange it the way she wanted it.
I'm glad to hear you daughter's op went well and hope she is able to sort out the marital problems.

~~~~~~ to Amanda <3
Linda hope your journey down to your daughters went smoothly and the weather wasn't to bad for the trip :-)
Thinking of Tec and the Duchess <3 <3
~~~~~~~ to Sue, Persie, Berona, Carole, Mersey, Jem, Huia, Allan and anyone else looking in, hope all is well with you <3 <3

Sylvia , it sounds as if you dear S.I.L had a wonderful send off , it really does help everyone involved I believe , when the person they are saying " good bye " to has thought it all out . The Grandchildren dancing is an especially touching part <3

Hello Persie , I'll go and see if I can find the " shared " planter picture , my FB has been acting up a bit and not always showing the news feeds etc :-S

I hope the Tec is continuing to improve , the news so far has been very positive :-)

Linda , if you look in , I hope you having fun with Eve :-)

Hi Sue, and everyone

Thank you for all your good wishes.

The Memorial for my sis-i-l was amazing!

She had organised it all, with the emphasis being on the family .............. from the Bishop being restricted to doing the Opening and Closing prayers, to readings by 4 people (OH and 3 vicars from elsewhere in the Diocese), to happy hymns and clapping songs, to requesting that her grandchildren dance in the aisle to the music!

It was a happy occasion, with a few tears shed here and there.

We thought there might have been as many as 300 people there ............ they were standing 2 and 3 deep along the side aisles, extra chairs placed along side each row down the main aisle, and an overflow in the Hall. Over 200 had signed the guest book that had been set out, and we know that many people had attended but not signed (including the family :-) )

Sitting on one of the extra chairs across the aisle from me was the Roman Catholic minister, and the United Church minister was somewhere else in the congregation. We think the Lutheran minister was also there!

Mind you ................. sis-i-l was well known in the little town of about 5000 people, and had touched many people.

She first went to live there in 1970, taught in the Middle School and then in the High School, she and her husband were heavily involved in the ski hill organisation and in search and rescue, then was minister of the only Anglican Church since 2005.

The Bishop returned to the Parish this past Sunday for a special Eucharist Service with Communion.

We got back very late on Monday from our daughter's

Daughter had had abdominal surgery, but was released from the hospital the day after we arrived, about 6 days after the surgery, still with staples in, under orders not to lift ANYTHING for 2 weeks, then nothing over 5 lbs for another 4 weeks.

It was amazing to see how well she was walking though!

There are also some marital problems that we didn't know about .......... but they are working on those, and we are hoping all will work out for them.

We had a real nor'easter while we were over there .................... 25-30 cm of snow, high winds, literally blizzard conditions.

It was also cold most of the time. It started to warm up on Saturday!

Linda,

Please tell Tec I have been thinking about him heaps and heaps, because the bougainvillea is flowering away madly and I see it lots of times during the day and it reminds me of him and his little bougainvillea. And as per usual the petals waft in off the deck and into the dining and kitchen area.

Lovely drying days here, it has tended to rain at night mostly. Denist tomorrow, but just going to the hygenist.

Have read your itinerary Allan. Should be able to fit your contingent in with our daily lives.

Amanda and Sue have just liked a corrugate ironware site for planting have shared one of their pictures on FB. I think I will get a set when we move.. they will have to come up from Dunedin.

Take care all

Persie

Please send some of that rain over here. We can expect 29 in the city of Sydney today - but (not to be out-done!) here, on the western side of the city, we can expect it to reach 36. I can feel it heating up now at mid-day, so I'm glad I got out early and soaked my plants and I'm now about to switch on the air conditioner, before the heat of the sun gets through the brick walls.

SueMaid Report 28 Jan 2014 22:32

The hottest it is expected this week is 32C - hot but bearable.

I must sign off as I have had two phone calls that I need to act on.

Sleep tight Poms and a good day to our Aussies <3 <3

Allan

Allan Report 28 Jan 2014 22:28

The last few days have been pleasant, Sue. It is currently 16 with an expected top of 29, but then, like your area, another hot spell is expected.

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 28 Jan 2014 22:24

Is it cooler where you are, Allan? It's warming up again here.

Allan

Allan Report 28 Jan 2014 22:15

Hi Sue,

I may have put on some weight, but I'm still not large enough to be classified as a contingent :-D

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 28 Jan 2014 22:06

Good morning Sue and Allan.

Tec said that the physiotherapists at the small hospital are very good because he has dealt with them before. He was disappointed when I explained to him that the dongle for the computer relies on a mobile phone signal because he is keen to get back on line, but last time he was there, his phone wouldn't work at all

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 28 Jan 2014 22:06

Hello - the Aussie contingent has arrived :-D

Allan

Allan Report 28 Jan 2014 22:03

Hello all.

Thanks for the update, Linda.

I would expect that Tec would receive more personal care in a smaller hospital rather than a large regional one where staff have a greater number of patients to care for.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 28 Jan 2014 21:41

Berona, I just sent you a message while you were arriving on the thread.

He seemed fine this morning when I spoke to him, his leg was just a bit painful because it was his first time sitting up in a chair

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 28 Jan 2014 21:41

Hello everyone :-). A lovely sunny morning here.

Good news about Tec - it just gets better. I hope he gets the care he needs at the smaller hospital. He will be closer to the Duchess and that's a positive. Their daughter will be able to visit both her parents on the weekends.

Berona

Berona Report 28 Jan 2014 21:37

Thank you for relaying that to us, Linda. I'm thinking of Tec all the time and wondering how he is coping.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 28 Jan 2014 12:06

I just had a nice chat with Tec, he is out of bed sitting in a chair. He said that he is waiting for a bed in the small cottage hospital and once there is one, he will be transferred there. That is good progress, but bad in another way because there is no mobile signal at that hospital, so he won't be able to get tin touch. A dongle for his laptop wouldn't work there either because that relies on a mobile signal.

One good thing is that the hospital is directly over the road from the nursing home where the Duchess is, so he probably would be able to see her. He said she is fine, but is making up all sorts of stories as to why he isn't there, apparently he is on his holidays.

He asked me to send his love to everyone
