Just popping in. Esme seems better today, they have connected the stomach tube up and she has had some milk through it. They may take the nasal tube out tonight. I am not sure when she will come out as the chest infection has set her back.

We took Eve swimming today and had lunch in town. Grandad came home while I took her to a soft play centre. I witnessed the most amazing parent rage. One gentleman and his wife started raging at another couple, I think because the first couples toddler had been knocked over. It got very ugly and in the end all the security team from the shopping centre where the soft play was had to be called for to sort them out as several other people had joined in by then. The language was terrible with one gentleman suggesting to a lady that she should go back to where she had come from, but not as politely as that. Odd as they all had foreign accents

Hello everyone :-D

Oh poor little Esme - I hope she is feeling so much better soon :-(. Esme has been through such a lot in her little life.

Warm and sunny here today as it was yesterday. We headed off for a drive up into the mountains yesterday - it was a little cooler. We had lunch in a new garden centre. No Linda I didn't buy any plants......just a very nice pot :-D

We went for a walk along a bush track and took some photos. This area is a rainforest which is very unique to the area. The plants have been documented by botanists from all over the world. I just love being there and it's only 30 minutes from home :-)

I tried Tec again today, but it just went straight to answer phone, so I am assuming that he has moved to the local hospital. I will email his daughter to check, but she is probably visiting them,so won't pick up her emails until she gets home

I tried to phone TEC yesterday but it just went straight to answerphone so either it was switched off or he has gone to the local hospital where there is no signal, I Hillary later.

We went to see Esme yesterday, she isn't very well, not because of the operation but because she h s bronchiolitis , they are giving her antibiotics in case it is bacterial but it us probably viral, they have tested for both. She seems forest enough, but hates it when they give her a nebuliser. She hasn't had any food at all since she went in, she is just on a drip. They put off starting the feeding but I suppose that will give her stomach ore time to heal. I have seen the button it us quite large and high up just under her ribs in the middle.

My daughter stayed the first night, but got no sleep, so we bought her home and Seems father stayed last night.

My daughter's to bed as soon as bad got home analysis still there catching up on six months lack of sleep

I am off the rubbish kick now..

Have bought August his robot.. the ruddy thing talked to me on the way to the check out. Took it out to car put it on seat and went for a bite to eat, when I got back put my bag on top of it and it talked to me again.

Went off to super market and took my book out of my bag and placed it carefully on edge of robot's box and nothing was said. Did my shopping came out loaded back of car got in whizzed up the ramp and around the corner out of the car park and I heard this voice.. Looked around and this youngster was walking along the path and I thought wonder who he is shouting at and was surprised I could hear him with window shut and air con on, then I stopped at lights and realised book had moved and robot was talking yet again. doh!! :-D

Hi everyone :-) :-)

To join in with the Great Rubbish Debate.......

We have our rubbish collected every week.

One week our Blue Plastic Sacks with recycling (mixed) is collected. They will take any reasonable amounts of blue sacks.

The following week they collect our non-recyclable rubbish in Black plastic sacks. They will only take a maximum of 4 black sacks from each house on a fortnightly basis.

We have also been provided with a small, brown kitchen food waste bin and a larger green bin to transfer the contents of the brown bin daily. The kitchen food waste must be wrapped in newspaper or placed in special bags, to be bought from the council, before it is put into the green bin.

The Green Food Waste bin is collected every week at the same time as whichever plastic sacks they are taking that week. The lorries have 2 sections. One for sacks and one for the kitchen food waste.

The cost of this service comes out of the Council Tax (what used to be called Rates) that every household has to pay.

We also have Glass Recycling Points, there are two in walking distance of where I live, where we can take glass bottles etc locally.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 1 Feb 2014 00:36

we have one wheelie bin for garden waste and kitchen compostables ................. inclduing things like paper towels, paper hankies, etc etd

That is collected every week

We have a blue box, blue bag and yellow bag for recyclables ....... glass, plastic, paper, cardboard, etc

That is collected every week

We have another wheelie bin for garbage ......... ie, anyhting that cannot be recycled or composted.

That is collected every 2 weeks.

Then we have to take a number of other things to the local recycling centre for collection ........... including batteries, electronics, milk and juice cartons.

We have reduced our "garbage" to a maximum of 2 plastic bags every 2 weeks.

The cost is covered by our city taxes, we don't pay any extra.

Allan

Allan Report 31 Jan 2014 23:11

The third bin is a free service, Persie. Some councils have banded together and have invested in a small composting plant. The money to run the service is supposed to come from the sale of the compost. I say 'supposed' as the service is a relatively new one so there is not too much compost yet.

It remains to be seen if it works.

Persephone

Persephone Report 31 Jan 2014 23:02

we have a 120kg wheelie bin for the household rubbish goes out every week and a 240kg for the recyclable. The powers that be are in the thinking process of having a greenwaste bin.

We had one for a six month period, but had to pay for the service. It got rid of a lot on a monthly basis. We used to do that all the time when we first came here because it was quite cheap but then the costs went up quite significantly so we dropped it. :-S

Allan

Allan Report 31 Jan 2014 22:57

Persie,

we have two bins; one for general waste and the other for recycling. Contamination rates aren't too bad.

Some local councils here (not ours :-() have now introduced a third bin for compostable materials including kitchen and garden waste. That bin is emptied once a week and the other two once a fortnight

Persephone

Persephone Report 31 Jan 2014 22:51

I think it might have a bin Allan. I know he has bin driving it around the living room floor.

We used to have recycling crates for our plastic, bottles & cans, and the paper was bagged and left for another contractor... but now we have a large wheelie which takes the lot once a fortnight, it's just a merry mix up in the bin. Apparently a lot of the stuff arrives at the plant too contaminated to recycle. It's sort of defeated its purpose as people chuck all sorts in them.

:-(

Allan

Allan Report 31 Jan 2014 22:18

Hi Persie,

You should have mentioned about the recycling truck; I could have got you a bin to go with it :-D :-D

Persephone

Persephone Report 31 Jan 2014 22:04

this thread is very quiet...

I talked to August on the phone yesterday evening and he has told me he wants a robot for his third birthday.. I asked what sort of robot.. and the answers was a big one.. but of course silly Nana should have realised that.

I sent him a huge recycling truck for Christmas (along with clothes)..

Guess I will have to go shopping for robots now..
