Another glorious day here in Narnia. :-D

I think I might go outside and sit in the sun for a while, as I have done for the past two days.

Hope everyone has a good day, or a good night.

Yes, that would be about right, although not quite that easy!! It all depends on what time of the year it is!

As I said, our standard time is 10 ahead of Greenwich Mean Time. It used to be easy before someone thought of having Daylight Saving Time. It would still be OK if it wasn't for the fact that we don't all change at the same time!

At the moment, we are on DST and UK is on standard time (11 hours difference),but soon we will go back to standard time (10 hrs diff) for maybe a week, or two - then UK will go forward for their DST and we will then be 9 hours ahead of them for their summer.

Yes - confusing!

Hi Berona

very confusing!!

My best friend from school used to live in Mudgee, in NSW, and we finally worked out that I could phone her at 8 pm my time, and it would be 3 pm the next afternoon for her.

So that would be 19 hours difference, if my math is correct :-)

Berona

Berona Report 10 Mar 2014 01:58

Sylvia - am I right in assuming that your standard time is 8 hours behind GMT?
Our standard time (Eastern Australia) is 10 hours ahead of GMT.

At the moment, we are still on Daylight Savings Time (GMT+11) but will be returning to standard time soon. So, now with your DST, you are 18 hours behind us here - until we change back, that is!........oh how confusing!!

it turned into a lovely afternoon here!

OH went out into the garden to do some post-winter pruning.

I'll be able to cut and bring in some branches of forsythia in the next couple of days ............ the buds are showing colour :-)

The crocuses are out ........ purple and white at the moment, yellow are usually a little later.

Our clocks went forward this weekend ............... as did the US.

This means that I have to remember that I am only 7 hours behind the UK when I look at the time of posts on here

I'm quite well adjusted to the "normal" 8 hour difference, but get easily confused at the changeover times :-)

Showing the flag late, as usual. Beautiful day started here with a top forecast of 27. Sue - we had viscious thunder, some lightning and we lost power for an hour, but it all stopped without us seeing a drop of rain!

Tec - I agree with you about the special bed. I'm sure not all amputees have them, but if it's on order, you will have it, of course. If you must elevate your leg, can't it be done with a spare pillow? Hope you get through the op and can look forward to going home. Like Sue says - put your foot down! (with a firm hand). I'm sure you'll find a way to do that.

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 9 Mar 2014 22:15

You will have to keep pushing once you get home.

Tec - my daughter has just turned up for a cuppa so I must be off. Sleep well and dream of freedom <3 <3

Well I'd better go to bed now,

Enjoy your day Sue, good luck to OH at physio.
Hello Berona,

Goodnight,

Nobody has ever told me.

I know it's an electric bed that can be operated in various positions. I was going to buy one of those because I've been told to keep my good leg elevated at night. This is to do with circulation, and because of heart failure to prevent swelling(odaema) I think.
They said I was not to buy one because their beds are much better than private ones.
It might be a water bed. I hope not because they're awful to sleep on.
The bed I have here is an air bed, it aggravatingly inflates and deflates all night :-(

I have a perfectly good single bed at home with a nearly new mattress on it. I can use that till their stupid bed turns up.

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 9 Mar 2014 21:52

What is this super duper bed for?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 9 Mar 2014 21:45

My doctor was here about ten days ago. She said that there was no medical reason for me to be here now, except that it might be best to wait until after I've had this filter removed.
So that's it, once that is done then there is absolutely no reason to be blocking a hospital bed. That is something they are always going on about.

I think I have been patient enough now.

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 9 Mar 2014 21:37

It is getting silly and I can't say I blame you. If you insist on going home perhaps the bed will miraculously appear. There appears to be no reason for you to stay in hospital.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 9 Mar 2014 21:34

In order to stamp my foot, I have to jump up and down :-D.

No sign of the bed yet - so at the end of this week, when I'm back from Shrewsbury, and everything is finally over, I am going to ask for a definite date. If they can't provide one, then I am going home, because it is getting too silly now

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 9 Mar 2014 21:22

Well you could stamp your foot and make them take you back. Just remember to hang to something so you don't fall over :-D

Any sign of that bed yet?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 9 Mar 2014 21:01

I think that you deserve a peaceful week, so you should plan and make the most of it - while keeping it peaceful :-)

I am off to Shrewsbury on Wednesday for a small op to remove the filter, and will be back here on Thursday, assuming they remember to bring me back. :-(

Hi and bye Huia :-)

Nothing much happening today other than usual household jobs. We had a busy week last week but it looks like being a quiet week coming up. OH has two physiotherapy appointments but luckily he was able to get them early and the physio is local so it doesn't take out too much of the day.
