Be careful that you don't catch up with yourself on the way back. :-D

You have had a busy day.

I went to sit outside this morning as it was very sunny, but the wind was quite chilly, so didn't stay outside very long.

Started to organise the astonishing collection of personal effects accrued during my stay in hospital :-( Ready to return home.
The nurses have been laughing because I seem to have set up a small office in the corner of the room.
Tomorrow I'm off to Shrewsbury, and will be back on Thursday. So I won't be back online until Thursday evening.

Sorry I didn't get back.

The dentist was just a check up, no problems thank goodness. I had to go to the cinema to collect lots of incoming mail to do with an upcoming social evening. By the time I had done that, I just had time to go to the supermarket before lunch. Then my brother popped in for a coffee on his way past.

We had to throw him out because we were delivering library books. Since I got home, I have been dealing with all the post and I still have some more admin to do.

Phew what a busy day.

Hello, :-)

Amanda I can imagine that you have been pulling out all the stops, and the weeds, with this lovely weather. It is a nice sunny day here again. The fourth in a row.

Thank goodness your daughter's dog was handed into the vets, not stolen or left to roam in the traffic.
I hope the situation will be sorted out at the vets. That's where the chipping scheme goes wrong. When people take over ownership they should check if the dog, or cat, has been previously chipped. Then a new chip can be installed. Trouble is, if the animal has had previous owners, how do you prove that your ownership is legitimate, unless the previous owners can be contacted.
The vet that has your daughter's dog will be able to trace its original owner through the chip, unless of course they have moved house, or died.
I hope she gets him back without too much hassle - though expect a bill :-0

Hello Linda,
Hope your trip to the dentist was painless :-).

It is great news about me escaping the clutches of the NHS at last.
Amazing that all it took was a word in the right ear ;-).

Due to the nature of the procedure in Shrewsbury on Wednesday, I will have to come back here on Sunday and Monday for an anticoagulant injection. That will only take a few minutes. Normally I take warfarin tablets, but I need the injection for a few days before and after the op.

My daughter will do shopping and stock up my fridge again. She has installed a small freezer cabinet in the kitchen, because I can't get to the chest freezer in the outside porch. It's the same size as the fridge and sits neatly beside it.

When I went round the house with the OT people the other day, there were no obvious snags, except reaching into the sink from the wheelchair, which is difficult, but I'm sure that minor glitch can be resolved.
Having said that, I'm sure that a 24hr living situation will throw up a few problems, but nothing that can't be sorted out.

I have bigger issues to be discussed with the local odd job guy. I want ramps made front and back doors, and easier access into the garden.

What absolutely brilliant news to come home to Tec. Yeah, the sun is shining and all is well with the world <3 <3

I approve of your daughter being there for there first week,so that you can ease into things and she can iron out any snags which there are bound to be. You can max out your credit card ordering lots of little gadgets to make life easier

Hello Sue and Susanwithnumbers :-)

Tec , I am so pleased to see your wonderful news :-D Good luck with the op on Wed , I'm sure you will be looking forwards to putting this whole episode into the past and it is fantastic to hear you sounding so positive about the future <3

I've not been about much the past few days , the sun has been out ( well not today as much ) , and it is all go in the geenhouse and allotments :-)

There was a frantic phone call from middle daughter today , she was visiting her Nan , with her kiddies and dog , somehow the dog got out of the garden and went missing , he isn't very street wise , she called and called but no sign of him . We went out looking in the car , still no sign . Anyway , we put alerts up on FB and it turns out someone had picked him up and taken him to the local vets . Wonderful , except they won't let her have him back or even see him , to confirm it is actually her dog :-| Seems that his first owner ( who we didn't even know about ) had had him microchipped , she was totally unaware of the fact ( our daughter is his forth owner ! ) . I am so cross that they won't give him back and am going with her in the morning to do battle !

Linda , I'm pleased to see you are having a lovely family time and that Esme approves of her new buggy :-)

Has Diane been about lately ? I do hope she is okay <3

~~~~~~ to everyone .
Yes Susanwithnumbers - I do read back and have a laugh. I still have some messages from Jean that I can't delete. We also lost one of Aussies awhile back. We sat with her through her fight with cancer. Lots of support as each of us have been through ups and downs. Lots of silliness to bring a smile to our faces and some tears along the way. Some very firm friendships have been made.
Yes Sue, I have given the reality of the situation a lot of thought, and I know some things will be hard. Some things will be frustrating, and it will take some getting used to.
I have always been such an independent person, but now realise that I'm going to have to swallow my pride over many things, and let others get on with it.
Like I said, I will miss the Duchess terribly, and have yet to face that, but luckily I don't mind my own company, and will find much to occupy me.
Not least, the company of you all here, who have already helped me through a tough time more than you know.
I know that you will be here for me in the long evenings ahead, especially in the winter.
It will be a new chapter in my life, and I must learn to cope as I go along.
It'll be alright - I'll make it alright :-)
Well I best get to bed,
Enjoy your day Sue - Hi Berona,
Goodnight,
Tec :-)
Hello Sue <3
I have been reading the beginning of your thread and am smiling broadly :-D
It was supposed to be for Aussies and everyone jumped on it claiming to have some sort of right to being able to post on the thread......then I saw posts from jean Durrant and Our Daff , both of whom are unfortunately no longer with us.....all of us having a laugh.......do you ever re-read?
Hello Susanwithnumbers - lovely to see you as always <3
Tec - my stern face now. I hope your expectations aren't too high. Being home will be very different to being in hospital where your needs are looked after by the nursing staff and I think you will need time to get used to the big changes in your life. I certainly don't want to burst your bubble <3
Good Morning Sue,
It is good news isn't it - just in the nick of time, as I had reached the stage where I felt I couldn't face another day in a hospital ward.
Anyway, we're nearly there, the final piece of the jigsaw.
My doctor called in this evening, she is quite happy for me to go home on Saturday.
My daughter is planning to take a week off work to get me settled in the house. I wish that she wouldn't, she has had so much time off.
I am very excited now, shame I have to go to Shrewsbury on Wednesday, but has to be done. I pray there isn't a hitch there.
Another case of "who you know" ;-)
Tecwyn
Tecwyn Report 10 Mar 2014 19:18
Hello - Guess what? :-D
I am going home on Saturday - after all this time - I am going home :-D
As some of you know, I had decided to go home on Saturday because it looked like I would never be discharged in the normal way, and after nine weeks I've had enough.
My own doctor said two weeks ago that there was no longer a medical reason for me to be here.
I was sent to this hospital for convalescent, to be nearer home, and to wait for a particular type of bed that I'm to have at home, supplied by the hospital.
They have really looked after me here, and I have regained much of the weight I lost along the way. It is more like a small hotel, than a hospital.
However, there was no sign of the bed, and the weeks are going on, so it was decision time - time to go.
Strangely, while sitting in the carpark, in the sunshine today, who should appear, but a Nursing Sister that I've known for years. She isn't directly attached to this hospital, but runs the local Health Centre.
We sat chatting about things, and I explained how desperate I am to go home. She listened, and as she left to go she said " leave it with me"
Within an hour of our conversation the Sister phoned here to say the bed would be delivered to my house on Thursday. Apparently. the base of the bed I can keep, and the special mattress will be loaned by hospital stores, until such time as mine is available.
I have arranged a meeting tomorrow with the Social Services supervisor who will arrange for Home Care ladies to come to the house to help if its needed.
My doctor called this evening and she is ready to sign my discharge papers on Friday.
My daughter and SIL will be over for the weekend, and will get any shopping I need.
I do have to go to Shrewsbury for a minor surgical procedure on Wednesday, and stay overnight, returning here Thursday.
So the end of a long dark tunnel is in sight. I can go home to start rebuilding my life. I know it won't be easy, and living alone without the Duchess will be the hardest thing to come to terms with.
At least I know that she is in good hands and well cared for, and I hope that in her own way maybe she understands what has happened.
I am looking forward to Saturday so very much.
