Goodnight Mersey - sleep well <3

I usually put some perlite in the potting mix for the succulents Tec. It keeps the mix light and airy around the roots. It seems to work well. They don't seem to like wet feet.

I won't Tec :-) The coconut shells hold the moisture so they work well with ferns. I also put a little peat moss in the potting mix.

I should think that would look very effective Sue :-) but don't forget to water them :-)

I bought two coconut shell planters for two nice ferns. I decided to hang them from a small tree for the shade. When we looked at the branches we noticed lots of dead bits so we spent some time tidying that up. The ferns look very nice hanging from the tree. I'll send a photo later.

Yes it was good to see my garden again. The Spring bulbs looked lovely, even surrounded by lots of dead stuff that normally would have been got rid of months ago, but once I can get out there I can do a lot of tidying up.

We had another thunderstorm yesterday - the usual noise and 10 minutes of rain but it does freshen the air so I don't mind. Your weather sounds dreadful but as you say there are better days to come.

Sunshine and showers again today, hailstones at times.

Linda I hope you didn't get soaked in Llangollen today. My daughter passed through there at about 1 o'clock today on her way home. I hope that she gave you a wave.

I was really only trying to describe how the weather can be different on the same day from year to year and used my wedding day and anniversaries as part of my explanation.
However, I seem to have sparked off a feeling of nostalgia with you and you came back with memories of your wedding days. Anyway - I think it was nice.

Tec ....... so glad that you managed to get out into the garden :-)



We were married on August 12, in a small Norman church in a small village in Cheshire ........

....... OH always refers to as the start of the Grous-ing season :-(

It poured with rain ................... and then the farmer let his cows out of the field next to the church just as we were ready to leave for the reception

The cars, with us in the lead, had to creep all the way along the lane until the cows reached the farmyard, and turned into it.


We had a short 3 day honeymoon in gatehouse of Fleet, then left on the 5th day for the US ...................... back row of the Economy, meal choice was Angus steak or fish, but OH was told they were very sorry but they had run out the Angus steak, had run out, and "do you mind having grouse? We have one extra from First Class"!


Of course, he said he didn't mind!


Those were the hey days of plane travel ......... meals served on china with metal cutlery and real glassware, even in Economy.
