It is free to park up there, but there are steps down to the bottom, so we will go down there where it is more sheltered

I have photos of the whale bone - I love the views from there. When we visited the UK with my mother and brother we spent a couple of days there. We couldn't get my brother away :-0

Probably, we are meeting by the whale bone arch

Are you having fish and chips for lunch?

LindainHerriotCountry Report 31 Mar 2014 22:57

It is only going to be 12 degrees, but as long as it doesn't rain, that is OK

Goodnight Tec - sweet dreams <3

You're right Linda - Whitby is one of my favourite places. Hope you have nice weather for your day out.

Goodnight Tec and Amanda, it always take me ages when I talk to my sister :-D

Goodnight Amanda - sleep tight <3

I love begonias and have some beautiful ones but they can be showy. I've never really grown dahlias before but my neighbour has some lovely ones. Gladioli don't seem to be in fashion at the moment. I've never grown them either. I like our native flowering shrubs as they are easy to care for and they attract the birds. As the days are cooling we are enjoying sitting out in the back garden and listening to the birds. There is a family of tiny wrens that I love to watch.

I must go to bed too,

Enjoy your day Sue,

Sleep well Linda , have a good day tomorrow,

Goodnight,
Tec :-)

Goodnight Amanda, sleep well :-)

Tecwyn Report 31 Mar 2014 22:29

Needs must Sue - if I reduced to a mobility scooter, so be it :-)
,
We get earwigs on the dahlia's here, but apparently the trick is to grease the stalks with Vaseline.

I don't care for dahlia's, or gladioli, or begonias, and have never grown them. They are too "showy" for me.

Well , I am going to be saying " good night " now , it always throws me when the clocks change .

Night night , one and all , have a good day Sue and the gang in the land down under <3

Tec on a mobility scooter :-0 :-0

No Tec - earwigs don't bother the dahlias but grasshoppers seem to like them. I found two chomping on the leaves :-(

Tecwyn Report 31 Mar 2014 22:19

There are two types of mobility scooters. The one I bought for the Duchess is very slow, and not allowed on roads, by law. The bigger ones are much faster, and meant for the road, but many people use them on the pavements :-0

Amanda2003 Report 31 Mar 2014 22:18

Yes Tec , there are taps dotted about along the path at the allotment . OH gets a big tub full in the wheelbarrow and leaves it in the tunnel , that way we can keep the young plants well watered :-)

Linda , I've nearly been knocked over by one of those pavement scooters as I was walking out of my gate :-| it was going rather fast and they are so quite , good job I didn't have one of the little ones with me o one of the dogs !
I'm sure Tec will use his with caution if he gets one .

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 31 Mar 2014 22:15

I agree with your OH Linda, some people with scooters are thoughtless, and reckless, sending people scattering off the pavements. There are one or two like that in our local town.
:-(

LindainHerriotCountry Report 31 Mar 2014 22:12

A big scooter sounds good, you can terrorise people on the pavement. I nearly got knocked down when I was coming out of the shop by an old man who was zooming along the pavement. OH gets really annoyed, he thinks they should have a speed limiter on them,so they can't go faster than walking pace

Off to make a phone call. back soon

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 31 Mar 2014 22:12

Amanda, the man I knew with the polytunnel was always splashing about with water in the very hot weather.
Do you have access to water on the allotment?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 31 Mar 2014 22:09

Sue, do you get earwigs on your dahlia's there?

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 31 Mar 2014 22:05

Tec in an electric wheelchair :-0 :-0

I was given three tubers by my neighbour as I had given her some baby bromeliads. I forgot about planting them until I noticed shoots coming off them. I took the chance and the warm weather has brought them along nicely.
