LindainHerriotCountry Report 7 Apr 2014 21:50

Very expensive breakages if they are the posh cups she brought back from England

Tecwyn Report 7 Apr 2014 21:28

Hello, :-)

Huia, I hope that you are feeling better today. Your thirst could be a symptom of dehydration, which shouldn't be taken lightly, and not wishing to sound like a jeremiah, it can also be a symptom of the onset of diabetes. Might be a good idea to get checked out by the doctor.

Berona. There are differences between the North and Southern hemispheres, one of course being that you can see the Southern Cross, whereas we can't.
I never ceased to be amazed at the size of the sun at dawn, and sunset, when close to the equator - a beautiful sight. :-)

Linda I hope you have found interesting places to visit while in Berlin - just don't mention the war, as John Clease and Michael Palin would say :-D

Sue - Could your OH juggle cups and saucers before his knee op? :-D

Hello Sylvia, we are only there for three days, so I am working through all the possible places trying to narrow them down into a feasible itinerary One of the friends I saw this afternoon has a son in Berlin,so she has lent me lots of guide books to look at.

We went to a walled garden which has a lovely cafe, it was just starting to rain as we got there,so we didn't pay to go into the garden, the friend who is ill isn't up to walking around anyway. The heavens opened and there was an absolute cloudburst. The cafe is in the old glasshouse which runs along the side of one wall. Every bit of glass was leaking, it is the first time I have got wet inside a cafe. It was something I will remember anyway :-D

Hi Sue and everyone

Linda .................... don't know how long you have in Berlin, but we were there in 1985, and daughter and I went to this place ......................

Pfaueninsel and Pfaueninsel Palace ............ it's a gorgeous island on the River Havel, and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage

It is reached by S-Bahn to Wannsee Station, then taking a bus and ferry (the crossing costs €2). Because of the protected flora and fauna, dogs and bicycles are not allowed on the island.

Operating hours of the ferry:
November till February: Mon - Sun: 10am - 4pm
March and October: Mon - Sun: 9am - 6pm
April and September: Mon - Sun: 9am - 7pm
May and August: Mo - So: 8am - 9pm

J and I loved it

Hope everyone is well.

take care

Poor thing, he needs to take it slower, but they won't be told

My head is banging from trying to work out the Berlin transport system, so I am going to go off and tidy up for some light relief

Sleep well when you turn in <3

SueMaid Report 7 Apr 2014 11:17

No not yet Linda. He has another day and then I will expect him to juggle two cups. He went to the garage looking for something and was tired by the time he came back in the house. I must have given him the "look" because he looked very sheepish :-D

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 7 Apr 2014 11:00

It is indeed Sue, but that is life, or death to be exact :-(

Is your OH up to carrying two coffees yet?

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 7 Apr 2014 10:57

Oh dear - that's sad Linda. Hearing about someone you know passing away and watching a friend going downhill.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 7 Apr 2014 10:39

I thought that you just didn't want to talk to us Sue :-D

I hope you feel better soon Huia

Even here we are not supposed to look directly at the sun Berona, but when it is behind the clouds you can look up. It is hazy here, the sun is trying to shine through, but it hasn't managed it yet.

I am trying to find things to do on our trip to Berlin later in the week, I have a big list so far,so am narrowing them down. There is nothing more frustrating than finding somewhere is closed when you turn up, so I do the research before hand on opening times and costs etc. I have even got my free tickets to get into the Reichstag Building (German parliament)

This afternoon I am going out for coffee with a couple of friends, one of them has cancer or at least had, but she is looking very frail now, so I pick her up in the car so she doesn't have to walk.

One of OH's friends from his uni days died from cancer earlier this week, it was all very sudden and came as a shock.

When the generation above us are dying, you accept that, but I am the top generation in my family now,so I am not so keen on it
