No polishing,

Had a visit from lady in connection with the ramp to the front, who also suggested the possibility of have another length of stairlift on the landing that would take me over the two steps that prevent me getting to the bedrooms. However, I have doubts about the technical side of that idea. We'll see.

That sounds very good. Also sounds like this house when we bought it. Everything needed doing. Re-wiring, re-plumbing, damp proof coarse sp, new bathroom, kitchen, double glazing, central heating system, even had to dig up back yard to find man-hole cover :-) new floor in the kitchen, and so it went on, but I have no regrets.
Good Luck to them. :-)

What have you been up to today? Any more polishing?

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 9 Apr 2014 22:01

I am sure they will :-D
It has no central heating, needs rewiring etc and a kitchen, but oddly it has plastic double glazing. They got a huge reduction on it and have the money to have the major jobs done before they move in

How exciting - they can put their own stamp on it, and hopefully enjoy the renovations.
I'm sure they will call on OH with his DIY skills :-)

They are because it will be their first house. They had an offer accepted about three years ago, but then he suddenly lost his job, so it has taken them all this time to regroup.

It is in need of complete modernisation, but they seem to have factored all the costs in. It is empty,so subject to all the surveys and formalities, it should go through fairly quickly. I can see OH moving in to help out

That's very good news for your son - I hope everything goes well for him with the purchase. He and his partner must be very excited. :-) :-)

No they were not :-(

On the other hand it can be useful. My son just phoned and said that they have just had an offer on a house accepted,so we have been having a look at it on line

I remember watching a "Tomorrow's World" programme many years ago. It told us that with all the advances in modern technology, computers, communication etc, our lives would be made so much easier in the future

Well here we are, in the future they spoke of. Were they right? :-D

OK, she can frolic Tec, you can as well

Having spent yesterday morning banging my head on the wall trying to sort my new printer out, I have been head banging today trying to get my mobile to accept an international SIM card. I need to get my phone unlocked first, but the bloke on the market can't do my type. I can get it unlocked by EE, but that takes twenty days and costs £20. You can do it cheaper on Ebay, but it looks dicey, so \i think I will wait until I go down to see my daughter.

They bought me the data card in the first place so that I can use my phone abroad without running up big data charges. I can also turn it into a wifi hotspot and run my tablet from it.

Life is just so complicated with all this technology

Frolic...........

Oxford Dictionary.........

Frolic - Play about Cheerfully - Cheerful Play - Prank - Merry Party.

Sounds good to me, so I see no reason why a respectable lady like Sue shouldn't frolic if she wants to :-D

So true Tec, I have to admit I wasn't a fan of this relative especially when he had a go at me a couple of year's ago shouting at me when I said something in response to him about my Uncle Bill, he said don't you call him Uncle he wasn't and never will be your Uncle. His father rang me in the evening to apoligise for what he had said.

Good night Tec sleep well <3

Tecwyn Report 8 Apr 2014 22:38

I have seen an example of this in my own family, again as Sue said "the most unlikely people"

Well I am also off to bed now,

Enjoy your day Sue, hope the interviews go well,

Sleep well Linda, and Diane,

Goodnight,
Tec :-)

That is true Sue at least she was spared knowing.

Linda it;s not so much what has been taken that upset's me, it is the the lack of respect for her home. As you say I can move on, myself and her niece who is joint executor of my uncle's will and responsible for the selling of the house ( along with my Aunt and Uncle's solicitor ) is coming up on Saturday so we can sort things out concerning the remaining contents of the house and we will do some cleaning and tidying of the garden's before the house goes on the market.

Sometimes the most unlikely people behave very badly when someone passes away or goes into a nursing home. When my MIL passed away her sister visiting from England took her watch and jewellery. This auntie was a lovely lady but she felt she had a right to help herself :-(
