Sounds like a lovely day out for you, Huia. Yes it may be best to show your niece a photo. When my son came up from Hobart to visit his grandfather he was shocked and very upset at how he had deteriorated.

Hello Huia, it is good that your son was able to come and help you. It sounds as if the upkeep of your place is becoming hard work for you

Goodnight Tec <3

Hello Huia :-)

Huia Report 20 Apr 2014 23:11

The home where Phil is has many activities. Bingo, snakes and ladders (a large 'board' ie sheet on the floor), films, van outings, exercises. Not that Phil takes part in any of them, but many of the other residents do.

Our son came up from Rotorua for a couple of days. In between the rain showers he trimmed back the shrubbery beside the drive (it was hanging over the ditch) and I took the bits to the other side and poked them in among the shrubbery there. It has made it much easier for me to keep the ditch clear of leaves etc. He also put the canopy back on my ute and found a way to fasten it to the tray at the front, since the old bracket Phil had seems to have disappeared.

Tomorrow, (Tues) I am meeting Phil's sister and niece in the Botanic Gardens for a walk and lunch. The niece was talking of taking her mum to visit Phil, but as her mum (my age) seems to be going the same way as Phil I am not sure it is a good idea as he looks rather ghastly. I think it would upset her too much. I will show the niece a photo when we meet.

A popping candy egg? :-D -

I think the audio books are a good idea, something for her to do. The home is very good, and clients well cared for, but there is never anything going on there. No stimulation.
Even if there was, I'm not sure the Duchess would join in with any activity.

A popping candy egg is funny Sue. Children always choose what they like best

Eve gave me some carrot soap because carrots are one of her favourite veg. I don't think she realises I am not going to eat it

Joel gave me a popping candy egg :-D

What was that blaze of light that whizzed through the thread :-0 :-0

Tec - I guess you feel find the Duchess is different with every visit. Sounds like you had a nice visit today. Good idea about the audio books.

Hello you two :-D

You didn't tell us about your fall. Hope you're ok now. Walking around Berlin wouldn't have helped - no wonder you were exhausted :-(

We had a wonderful day yesterday. The weather was glorious.
