Welcome back Linda - you were missed :-)

I'm not surprised that you are shattered. Be careful that you don't catch up with yourself coming back :-D
Good to see your son, even if you didn't expect to stay the night.

Been cold and grey here all day, so I stayed in with the heating on, sorting a few things out.
The man came to measure the stairs for a short stairlift that will enable me to get to the bedrooms, instead of camping out in the dining room.

Well I must go to see to my dinner now, before it gets incinerated.

Talk to you later, assuming you are still awake
I expect it will take some time though. :-D

I am back and shattered.

The traffic was awful last night,so it was eight before we got to Oxford. By the time we had finished out meal, it was very late so we decided to stay over and come back this morning. OH though it was only three hours, but when we checked afterwards, it actually should have been half an hour longer.

Of course miles and miles of road works on the M1 slowed us down, so it was 11.30 by the time we got home. I only had time to run into the facilities before I had to leave to get to Meals on Wheels for 11.40.

When I got back from that OH said that there were too messages on the answer phone from my friend who has cancer. She is starting to get very confused and for some reason thought I was going for coffee with her this morning. I wasn't, so I went to see her this afternoon.

I feel an early night coming on :-(

I hope that you haven't been too busy today Tec, I hope you had a good Anzac day Sue

Hello Sue,

I'm not staying as I've had a busy day and going to bed shortly.

I hope the weather is kind today for all Australians, New Zealanders, and others in the Anzac Day parades.
Talk tomorrow

Enjoy your day Sue,

Goodnight,
Tec

Hello everyone :-D

A busy few days for you Linda - enjoy the meal with your son.

I won't be around tonight as we are having a meal in Oxford with our son on the way back, so won't be home until very late.

I am getting adventurous. The pump and milk can go into a back pack, designs so toddlers can wear it and run around while getting fed. It can hang from the pushchair handle, so as OH ius here he has gone out for a walk with her while I do housework.

Good morning, I have five mins before the next feed.

Esme won't take anything by mouth Sue, so now she needs solid food the jars of baby food have to in through the stomach tube as well. The food is put into a large syringe and has to be pushed in over a forty five minute time span with five minutes between each bit.

The milk feeds she has are easier because the electric pump puts them in, but over an hour and a half, so she is hooked up all that time

Goodnight Tec - sleep well <3

The grandchildren will be arriving soon so I should get ready for the mini tornadoes :-D. Enjoy your day, Huia.

Tecwyn Report 23 Apr 2014 23:39

Yes I am satisfied that she is being well cared for. My only critism of the place is that there is nothing going on to stimulate or interest the residents.
They just sit about between mealtimes.
The Duchess spends all day sitting in the conservatory - I can tell that she is bored stiff.
That's why I took the tape player in so that she can at least listen to audio books. Someone has given her some Agatha Christie tapes.

Well I must go to bed now,

Enjoy your day Sue with the children,
Enjoy your day too Huia,
Hello Berona,

Goodnight,
Tec :-)

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 23 Apr 2014 23:33

You must be feeling happier to know that the Duchess is being cared for and that they are coping with the wandering at night.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 23 Apr 2014 23:30

The inhabitants of the home are reviewed every three months, to see if there are any issues on either side.
The Duchess is in the nursing home because she has medical needs. There are different homes for the elderly that have no specific medical issues.
Then there are EMI units that cater for mentally ill patients, dementia etc.
The home that the Duchess is in is not geared up to dementia patients, but will cope with mild dementia, or short term memory loss.

The management made it quite clear that they are happy to have the Duchess there, and that she is not causing undue problems. She does apparently wander at night, so they have fitted a sensor to her door.
She was wandering at night while she was at home, and needed guiding back to bed.

How nice that you spent some time with the Duchess. What was the meeting in aid of, Tec?

Your nieces would have been heartened by any sign of recognition by Phil, Huia.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 23 Apr 2014 23:20

No wonder you were tired Huia :-D after all that galavanting.

Probably Phil has a habit of having a nap after lunch, so it might be better to go at lunchtime when he is alert.

Huia

Huia Report 23 Apr 2014 23:16

Darn, I hit the wrong key and lost it all.

The day before Hamilton I went to the Botanic Gardens at Manurewa at 10.30, and went for a 1 hour stroll with Phil's sister and 2 of her daughters. We then had an early lunch after which we went to Mangere to visit Phil. He was still having his lunch, so I finished feeding him. The girls thought they saw a sign of recognition on his face. Perhaps I should go at lunch time more often as he is usually asleep when I visit just after lunch.
