The verandah is at the front of the house Linda - we have a covered area at the back. No more room for chairs :-(. I suppose I could get rid of some plant pots ;-)

Tec - I think I heard that the east coast of England is receding because of the sea. It will change the whole outline of Britain in years to come.

hello Sue and Diane

I read about Fairthingy some time ago Tec. It must be awful for those who own property there - well it is awful :-D :-D :-D

I don't think I will ever me immune to southern germs Diane :-(

The answer is simple sue, you simply extend your verandah around the front of the house then you will have lots of room for chairs

Good Morning Sue :-D :-D :-D

Yes I did laugh - but I agree you couldn't pass them up. You'll find a place for them, if it's only in the street :-D
I think you are worse than me - it's an illness you know :-D

Sorry that your weather is not nice today.

Hello Diane, Yes I have a busy week ahead one way and another. Still, it keeps me out of mischief :-D

Diane

Hi Sue :-)
you arrived while I was typing last post.
Tut tut another bamboo chair :-0 :-0 ;-)

SueMaid Report 3 May 2014 22:23

I sent Berona an email and as you can see she is well. She was surprised by how much we missed her and how we worry.

Hello you two :-)

Linda I'm glad your cough is improving but you know what will happen next week after your visit to your daughter's " you will have picked up another one " :-|

Tec sorry to hear you were not able to visit the Duchess but glad to hear she was ok.
You have a busy week ahead, hope all goes to plan :-)

Good evening friends from a cold blustery Sunday morning. It was only 12C yesterday - that's cold for us at this time of year.

Oh Tec - you are going to laugh at me. We went to a recycling centre because OH wanted to look for some metal baskets for storage in the garage. He found them but I also found something - a bamboo chair :-0. The fellow who works there only wanted $10 for the baskets and chair. The cushions need new fabric but otherwise it's perfect. I have no idea where it's going but even OH agreed that I couldn't leave it behind.

Sounds like a lovely family day out, Linda - I hope the weather is nice. I'm glad your cough is getting better.

I don't really remember last summer, so don't know what it was like.

There is great concern in Fairthingy. The village lies beneath sea level, and the defences, such as they are, were very nearly breached in the big storm in February when so much damage was done to the Welsh coast.
The Environment Agency announced that there are no plans to spend anything to improve matters, and that in due course the village will be given up to the sea, as a result of rising tides.
This has rendered properties unsaleable, and there have been several public meeting with the authorities.
Maybe there will be a floating Indian restaurant in time.

It is supposed to be another good summer, I hope so anyway

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 3 May 2014 22:04

I hope so :-)

My daughter said that the local seaside town was heaving with visitors today, and difficult to find anywhere to park the car.
Very good for the local economy. If we have a good summer the traders will do well, if people are spending.

Well pigs might fly and they might come, who knows

It will be lovely for you all to meet up, and go out for lunch. Shame that your SIL and niece will be indisposed, and so suddenly too :-D hope they have a rapid recovery :-)

Enjoy it anyway :-)

Oops sorry Tec, I missed your long opening post, I have read back properly now

My sister and her husband are up in the Dales tonight, for a friends birthday party. They are going to come here tomorrow morning. My brother, wife and their daughter are coming as well and we are all going out for Sunday lunch

That is the plan anyway, probably my brother will turn up on his own, his wife and daughter will suddenly be ill and won't come

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 3 May 2014 21:50

Apparently, she was well, and in good spirits

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 3 May 2014 21:49

I didn't go to see the Duchess, as I mentioned earlier. I was disappointed obviously, but least said the better :-0

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 3 May 2014 21:47

Was the Duchess well when you visited?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 3 May 2014 21:46

I've got an ordinary hoe, and have zapped some with that. There is so much in the borders that it's difficult.
Previously I've always stepped between plants in the Spring, being careful where I put my feet, but of course can't do that now.
Never mind, I'll just have to live with it, and hope that as the plants grow they will drown out the weeds.
I'm not going to worry about things I can't do anything about.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 3 May 2014 21:39

You must be able to buy a hoe on a long telescopic handle

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 3 May 2014 21:34

Well they didn't get round to the weeds :-0 so I will have to pretend I can't see them for now.

Glad to know the cough is getting better :-)

My visitors were very impressed with the ramp at the front, and the little stairlift on the landing.
As soon as I can get rid of the double bed I'll get the local decorator in, so that I can move back into the bedroom. Sleeping downstairs is all very well, and has served its purpose, but it will be nice to sleep upstairs again.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 3 May 2014 21:28

I am glad that you got your garden is done, I know you were fretting about the weeds

My cough is much better today thanks
