Hello Persie - good to see you post :-)

As Linda said, you can't leave. The gates are locked, and even if you do manage to vault over the electric fence :-D. Mother is in the Watch Tower with her AK47.
Exceptions are made - provided you can produce a "Certificate of Sanity"
Do you have one of these? - I thought not

:-D
My emoticons are mis-behaving.

It is wonderful that your ex-employers family can get together regardless of who is now with who. Sounds hilarious, and a good plot for a sit-com. :-D
My nephew's marriage failed, and his ex wife is a lovely girl. We always liked her.
Sadly she is shunned by the rest of the family, though she did nothing wrong. We have kept in contact, and she always asks about the family - sad really.

Hello Linda - It is good that Eve entertains Esme. Are feeding times getting any easier? I hope so.
Today I mixed some mortar in a bucket and pointed the wragged edge of the brick wall my brother took down for me - looks much tidier now.
Tomorrow I am expecting lots of plants for the aquarium, so will spend the day messing about with that :-D.
Then next week my neighbour is taking me to buy more fish. It's a big tank so I can have lots more fish in it.

Sylvia - I expect that you are looking forward to seeing your daughter in June. What a journey she has to make. My daughter lives 100 miles away, which seems a long way to me, but nothing compared to the distance your daughter lives.

Hello folks :-)

Persie , I think you should stay as well . Linda and I seem to be in the same boat , I really only use GR for this thread as well . Although I was rather surprised a few days ago , when I recieved a reply to a message I had sent well over four years ago :-0 :-0 :-0 " This is not my relation , sorry " ...........lol

Linda , I hope the little ones are sleeping and your getting some much needed rest . It is a balanceing act I feel with little ones , the joy they give is invigorating and at the same time all the running around , tending to them is exhausting :-S

I had Alice for a sleep over on Saturday night . Today I was landed with Tommy from 8am until 2.30pm . He had been spending the week with his Dad and my daughter couldn't get here until this afternoon . As soon as Tommy was in the house I could hear his chest was not good , he has been left with a weakness since he had " Bronchiolitis " as an infant . I got him to the Drs and he has antibiotics , new inhailer and paracetamol suspension . He perked up after I dosed him up with the lot :-) Hopefully he will be okay in a few days .

It was very wet here today , lots of slow moving , heavy showers , with hail and thunder / lightening at times . Very dramatic coloured skies etc .

Today on the allotment , my " Pidg " decided to hop onto my shoulder :-0 :-0
Tec , if you haven't yet got a parrot would you like a shoulder tame pidgon ?
I was actually quite delighted that he feels safe enough to hitch a ride , mind you , he soon got off when I put his handfull of grain on the ground .......lol

You can't go Persie, it is not allowed. I do no research on here, I have long had any useful contacts from my tree. I just use it for this thread.

OH went home at 2pm, we had both girls this morning, so I ended up with them myself this afternoon, which was hard work. Poor Eve just wants to play with me, but with Esme it us very difficult. I took them to the playground for an hour to fill some time in, that kept Eve happy. She will be at nursery for the next three days, so I will only have Esme, in a way Eve keeps Esme entertained, so I don't know which ius best

What you were saying Tec about families splitting up and then you don't see previous in-laws etc..

Where I worked the parents of my boss see their previous daughters-in-law from both sons, the past and present boyfriend of one daughter etc and then there is their never ending long list of grandchildren etc. The mother is one of 11 or 12 children herself and when I go to a family function of theirs there are exs, present and future in-laws-to-be, all there. It makes for huge celebrations but a lot of fun. And I am always greeted with such warmth from all of them as well.

I am trying to make up my mind whether to kick GR into touch or stay and spend more time on this thread with you all. I know I have contact with the majority of you on FB or as in Tec's case by e-mail. I am doing a ponder because the rest of GR is not up to much at all from what I do see when I visit.

To think there was just this thread and the odd other one when I first ventured on the boards after playing in my tree (which I don't do on here anymore)

Persie :-) :-)

Hi Sue, and everyone

That was a lovely surprise, Sue :-)

OH gave me a bunch of flowers that he had bought on behalf of my daughter!

J has never bought me flowers for Mothers Day before ................. we've always discouraged it because the prices go so high just for this weekend. But she wanted to do a little bit more than usual.

I had a lovely chat on the phone with her .................. and she is going to make it over to this side for the last weekend in June, when we are all going up north to spread OH's sister's ashes and drink what's left in her liquor cupboard.

Daughter can only come for the weekend ...................... she's very restricted to how much time she can take off, so it sill be literally fly in up there on Frday night / Saturday morning, and out again on Monday or Tuesday :-(

The Tuesday is July 1st .................. which is a national holiday, Canada Day

It was a glorious sunny day here for Mother's Day, and I've been hearing children playing outside in nearby gardens :-)

take care everyone

We think a lot about her. She's a lovely girl and it was sad that things didn't work out between them but they have remained good friends and still take Aiden out together on occasion. The three of them came up here for a visit last October and spent some lovely time with the family. My daughter is good friends with Aiden's mum.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 11 May 2014 22:49

It is good that you are on such good terms with Aiden's mum.

I always find it so sad that when someone comes into a family through marriage, or partnership, and that partnership doesn't work out for one reason or another, then that person is excluded from his/hers partners family, when previously they got on so well.

Aiden's mum must think a lot of you :-)

Good morning Tec - a shame about the weather but some good weather to come.

I had a lovely day yesterday. The sun shone which meant the children were able to play outside. We had a nice lunch too. After everyone left and all was quiet I then received a lovely message from Aiden's mum to wish me a great Mothers's Day. I felt very blessed that we are on such good terms with her.

That was a nice Mother's Day you had Sue, and original entertainment from the children :-)

Been a horrible wet day here - but a return to dry warm weather forecast from Wednesday.

I did the washing, and babysat Milo for a while :-)

Happy Mothers' Day to everyone who celebrates today including the Kiwis :-D

My son and grandson in Hobart phoned to wish me a lovely day. My daughter, SIL and family came for lunch and the children had a surprise for me. They played their Balinese instruments for me and sung a song. The sun shone and we had a wonderful day being spoiled by the men in the family. That's all I need for Mothers' Day.

Berona

Berona Report 11 May 2014 11:09

I agree with you Huia. I don't need presents at my age, and I would not be pleased if my children only contacted me on Mothers' Day. Oh well, luckier than some, I suppose. I know some children can't be with their Mums, but I do feel for the Mums who children CAN contact them, but don't bother.

I actually consider my birthday to be mother's day, as did my mum. She didn't want us loving her 'to order' of commercial interests. She had a perfectly good day of her own and if we couldn't love her all year round anyway, she would have been upset.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 11 May 2014 03:34

sorry, Persie!

I forgot NZ

will try to do better in future :-)

I'm sure there are several other countries who also celebrate Mums around this date.

Just checked Wikipedia!

The majority of countries actually celebrate Mothers Day on the Second Sunday in May, ie May 11 this year.

This includes most countries in Europe, Africa, Asia, etc etc

Persephone

tuts at Sylvia for missing us lot..

Hi Sue, and everyone

Happy Mother's Day, Sue, Berona, and everyone in OZ

we also celebrate Mother's Day on May 11 ................ which is tomorrow for us.

That young man had a gorgeous voice, not to mention figure :-)

I managed to find a video of Conchita singing.

Alas, The Eurovision song contest means little or nothing to us over here .................... it MIGHT get a mention on one or other of the news programmes tonight, because of Conchita.

I liked her acceptance speech :-)

Take care everyone

Everyone went to bed before I got here, this time. Sleep well, all of you.

Happy Mothers' Day to all those mothers and grandmothers in out country and wherever else it may be celebrated to-day. I know that England celebrates it in March, so don't know why Australia is different. Must have copied from the Hollywood movies - they celebrate it to-day too.
