Eve has a blackout blind, she was lifting it up to show me it was still light.

I had better turn in myself as it is an Early start in the morning. Goodnight everyone

Good evening Tec , I hope the rain has boosted your garden . I'm sure you will work out how to send the photos .......eventually :-D

Linda , those zero hour contacts are growing I'm afraid , I believe that Labour have said they will do away with them if they win the next general election . I was chatting to the man who reads the electric meters the other week , he now works for one of those awful BIG corperate buisnesses " G4S " , he does over 45 hours a week , on a zero hour contract and still needs to claim working tax credits and houseing benefits to survive :-( :-|

It is good to know that Esme was all smiles for you , she sounds like a right little tinker :-) I think perhaps Eve needs some darker curtains ..... lol

Hello Linda and Tec :-)

Amanda - that is such a shame :-(. Young people here are often taken advantage of.

Tecwyn Report 19 May 2014 22:38

I am the youngest in this village :-D :-D

Hello Tec, you need a young person to sort your email out

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 19 May 2014 22:32

Hello, :-)

Glad to see that you arrived safely Linda. Sorry about your holiday flight, and you are right. Sometimes it does seem as though life is conspiring against us. All we can do is carry on banging our heads against the wall :-)

Amanda - We had an almighty thunder storm here this afternoon, with torrential rain. I had the lights on in the house at 3pm.
Sorry that you didn't get the e-mail with shots of my garden.
I was feeling so proud of myself, thinking I was clever - now I know I'm just an idiot :-D
However, I shall try again, as in if and when you don't succeed etc etc etc :-D

Hello Sue, I promise not to tease you today :-) and will behave. Hope it's a nice day there. My SIL had a great three days in Sydney on her way back to Hong Kong from NZ. They had a great holiday.

Those zero hour contracts areca disgrace, I thought that they were going to do something about them. Isn't it illegal to pay less than the minimum wage?

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 19 May 2014 22:28

It is always nice to get money back Amanda :-)

It must be nice to go to the baths and actually swim, the only time I go, I have Eve in tow, so we just play

Eve was still awake when I got here, so I went into her bedroom. She was telling me that it couldn't be time to go to sleep because it was still light outside

Esme was all smiles when I saw her, but apparently she has been a little swine all day while her father was looking after her, so we will have to see what tomorrow brings

Amanda2003 Report 19 May 2014 22:27

Megs situation at work is not happy Sue :-( The people that took the place over a few months ago lost almost all of the old " team " , they just walked out one after another . The prices have been doubled , menu completely changed , loads of the regular customers have drifted away in discontent .
Meg slogs her self out for less than minium wage , she is the only one there on a " zero hour contract " and all in all , she is not happy :-(
She is sending her CV out all over the place , trying to get a job in the care industry .

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 19 May 2014 22:19

Sounds like fun Amanda :-) how is Megan getting on with work?

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 19 May 2014 22:17

Hello Sue :-) No , I won't spend it all at once , in fact I have to pay a chunk of it back to the council as they started the charge up again in March :-( :-|

I did however " splash " out on a new swimming costume , as I have got into the routine of going to the pool once a week with my Megan , we have a laugh and a bit of a swim .

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 19 May 2014 22:13

Hello everyone :-D

Amanda - that was a bonus. Don't spend it all at once :-)

Linda - how annoying to get no joy from the flight people :-( and even more annoying when you have Internet banking and still need to go into the bank. I also bank by Internet and the only time I go into the bank is when I have a cheque. That is getting less and less these days.

Hello Sylvia :-D

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 19 May 2014 22:01

The nights have been really hot here Linda , I've changed to the summer quilt and even that makes me overheat in the night :-|
I don't do internet banking . I don't do much banking at all ..... lol having said that , I was pleased to present the re-bate I got back from the council ( after waiting for months on end ) . They have had to pay back all the " bedroom tax " I'd been charged for last year :-D

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 19 May 2014 21:44

It is really hot down south, I hope it is going to cool down overnight. I sleep downstairs, so can't leave the window open.

Things are just sent to annoy me, I have decided. First the holiday, then this morning we went online to close down a e savings account as the interest rates are hopeless, only to find that the only way to do it is to go into the bank. What t is the point of having internet accounts if you have to visit a branch, stupid I call it

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 19 May 2014 20:53

Hello Linda , sorry to hear the holiday company won't change the flights back to something more reasonable :-(

Sylvia , I'm guessing your " stat holiday " is something akin to our " bank holidays " ? I hope you have enjoyed your day .

Tec , I have read back and see you sent me an e-mail , sad to say it hasn't appeared my end :-( is it lost in cyber space or has it returned to you ?
I hope you got along okay with the leg people .

Berona , have you planted something different in your new pots or do you tend to stay with the same types of plant that you already had ?

It has been hot here again today , I believe we may be in for a shower or two tomorrow , I hope so , as it was hard graft getting the allotments watered yesterday :-0

Hi Sue, and everyone

Oh dear, Linda ................ that is too bad.

Does this mean that the hotel will also lose your custom?

It is a Stat holiday here ........................ Victoria Day, celebrating originally Queen Victoria's birthday (May 24) but now held on the Monday preceding May 24th.

It is damp and cloudy, after a lovely hot sunny weekend :-(

take care eveyrone

Grr and double Grr, Thomson holidays do not see anything wrong in changing our holiday to night flights. It is in the terms and conditions that they can change the times by up to twelve hours and you have absolutely no comeback at all

Well we do because after being a loyal customer for years, we will not be using them again, not that they care of course

I hope you had a nice day Sue, we were not picking on you honestly :-D

Time to pack and sort out thing for the train, byeeee

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 19 May 2014 08:58

Hello Berona, it sounds like you need fewer pots rather than more, but they are nice to look at

it is another lovely day here, I think there are going to be showers on the west side of the country, but not here

Berona

Berona Report 19 May 2014 07:03

Another warm and sunny day here in Sydney. Temp about 22c. The only annoying thing is having to water the pots. Youngest son came yesterday and brought more plants, pots and potting mix and worked hard for a few hours, including pressure washing the courtyard.
