I've just been looking at Austrlaian Immigration Records.

They have me down as immigrating in 1964 .............. but my records have not been examined :-)

I did see that my cousins emigrated on the Assisted Passage Scheme ......... on the Fairsky in 1958, the Fairsea in 1959, the Oronsay in 1963

I keep finding these records, and then "losing" them :-)

We have a lovely family of little blue wrens visiting. They hop around the garden picking up seed from under the feeder. Sometimes some doves will also join them. The doves are nice but so big and lazy. They don't like flying up to the feeder in the tree - they much prefer to feed on the ground. They do like splashing in the bird bath.

I really envy the beautiful birds you have in Australia. I get great pleasure in feeding our wild birds every day.
While we don't have the lovely birds that you do, ours are very attractive in their own way.
I didn't hear the cuckoo this year - too late now I think.

Hello Sylvia - hope you are well :-)

There have been heated discussions at times but it usually calms down.

I'm sitting outside watching some little birds playing in the bottlebrush tree. I think they are called pardelotes.

Good Afternoon Sylvia,

I suppose we have to be of a certain age to remember such events. :-D

I do not remember the Relief of Mafeking though :-D

Sounds like you had a lovely breakfast out, and it's nice to be spoiled sometimes.

It's good that your family can discuss issues and topics with their varied views without falling out. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and who's to say who is right.

Hi Sue, and everyone

I remember the Suez Canal debacle :-(

I think Tec and I are about the same vintage :-)

I don't mind you getting on your soapbox :-D. I have a family with strong views on a variety of things and conversation around a dinner table is often interesting :-). Thankfully there aren't arguments just varied views.

We had a lovely breakfast yesterday morning. We sat in the sun until morning tea time. We ordered more coffee and the owner brought out a couple of little cakes to share. My daughter knows him and his wife so we were spoiled :-)

I hope that you have a very relaxing day Sue - feet up - good book :-D

Sadly, you are right. I wish the British would lean from past experiences, and stop trying to police the world, at the behest of America.
It's time we put our colonial and imperialist ideals behind us, where they belong in the history books.
Hopefully the experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan will be considered in future, and we might just learn not to be led by the nose by America who's foreign policy is disgraceful, and has been for many years.

Stepping off my soapbox :-D

Hello Linda - glad you are home safely. Esme will get used to you again I'm sure :-)

Britain seems to have a history of getting involved in skirmishes without a favourable outcome.

I have absolutely nothing planned for today. After a busy week I am more than happy to relax :-D

Hello Linda - Glad to see that you are safely home. Maybe when you get back Esme will not take so long to make friends with you again.

My post was not meant to be charming - just informative :-D

Good Morning Sue,
That Suez episode is as I remember it, but I'm sure your brother would find much more information about the debacle (we keep doing it) if he Googles it.
